Watch La Haine: The film follows three young men and their time spent in the French suburban "ghetto," over a span of twenty-four hours. Vinz, a Jew, Saïd, an Arab, and Hubert, a black boxer, have grown up in these French suburbs where high levels of diversity coupled with the racist and oppressive police force have raised tensions to a critical breaking point. During the riots that took place a night before, a police officer lost his handgun in the ensuing madness, only to leave it for Vinz to find. Now, with a newfound means to gain the respect he deserves, Vinz vows to kill a cop if his friend Abdel dies in the hospital, due the beating he received while in police custody. |

One of the best movies ever made..not for everybody.. Like diamonds aren't for everybody. Some may find it and throw it away thinking its just another rock.. This movie, acting,the works..one word: Genius.

Movie was an okay watch, the best thing I liked about it was the cinematography... Vincent Cassel is always great in anything he makes. 3.5/5

I rented this one thru NetFlix back in 2004, which is when I became obsessed with foreign films. The story is a perfectly illustrated model for the epigenic breakdown of society and it's peoples, particularly the urban youths and those deemed responsible for order. This is a human story, filmed and directed with extraordinary skill, and backed with one of the best oldskool sound tracks I've heard in a long time. Appreciate this film for what it is, ART. Afterward, will want to seek out all of Cassell's films, he is truly a master. 10/10
