just dicovered this film today.. wow!! early 50's drama.. way ahead of its time in so many ways and like all classics it just gets better with age.. very well acted, written, and not without some great plot twists and surprises.. i can only imagine what it would be like to be a part of hollywood in this era.. it really was a beautiful place in the 50's.. i'll definitely be adding this to my movie collection.. 5/5 stars

About 4 years ago, this was the movie that caught my attention for Classics. Once was enough. I was hooked. Still am. Since then, I don´t watch anything BUT classics. Ive seen hundreds of them, but none was better than SB. This is without a parallel in film-history. Essential Classic, the masterpiece...To say this movie is superb and original, is underestimating! I won´t even lose words about the greatest robbery of 20th century(Oscars 1951). But who cares for Oscars, time was the greatest award for this piece of gold. Seriously, folks, you have nothing to lose...Watch it before its too late.

Simply magnificent! Film Noir at its very BEST. Flawless acting, superb sets and the story was captivating. This is a MUST watch for all classic movie lovers. 10/10!

Simply one of the greatest films ever! Gloria Swanson should have won the Oscar - Judy Holiday got it; one of the award's saddest hours!

Frightening and sad film. This is the one movie where it's a good example where a guy is trapped in an affair with an aging has-been actress, driven beyond by her delusion by the isolation and her own ego. If anyone ever said that it's only the females that get trapped into scary and abusive relationships, this is a good one to show that that ain't the case. Still, this movie is a one with incredible depth and like Sasali says, it's a must-see classic and part of old Hollywood culture. I give it all stars.
