shannon hoon's music was inspirational to many...to say he didn't matter, is to do his legacy a great injustice... many people were going through much of the same drama he was writing about when his music came out, and those who were could read between the lines in his verses... as the band was about to flounder from poor chart results from their first two singles, their last ditch effort was to try one last single, "No Rain" , which was never meant to be released as such. But everyone in the crowds at shows already knew the words...It goes to show that the people were already moved, before the record execs caught on to how to market the band... Perhaps the reason you think they only had a couple of good songs is because you only know what the record company put out on the radio...the fact that they could get gold records and tour successfully based on only a 'couple of good songs' would lead me to believe in the strength of the record beyond those songs...nobody is gonna sit through an entire concert to hear the one song they like from a band...

Still a very good story,Im just not that into his tunes.

They Were amazing, The best? no. but very close simply because of the huge Zeppelin influence. Their song "Change" was a masterpiece
