Watch Fat Man and Little Boy: In real life, Robert Oppenheimer was the scientific head of the Manhattan Project, the secret wartime project in New Mexico where the first atomic bombs were designed and built. General Leslie Groves was in overall command of it. This film reenacts the project with an emphasis on their relationship.

im sure theres plenty of dramtic licence been taken with certain parts of the dialogue and certain characters but this still remain one hell of a movie. its amovie everyone should take time to watch. if only oppenheimer had supported the scientists rather than the power mad general the entire world would be a different and far better place(we know this part of the film to be true due to oppenheimers admisions after the war). i totally agree with the person below, seeing dwight schultz acting this well really makes me think he had far more talent than he ever got credit for, a great performance in my opinion, he stole the film from appparently bigger name actors. JUST TAKE THE TIME TO WATCH THIS PLEASE!!!!!!! 9/10

I'm not sure how historically accurate it is, but I believe this is one film that everyone needs to see. From what little I have studied the event, I think some of the end dialogue, when they are testing the bomb, captures the mentality of these men perfectly: that sort of "I wonder if it will set the atmosphere on fire... well, let's do it anyway" kind of thing. Oddly enough, Newman, who ties with Redford as my favorite actor, comes across as staid to me throughout most of the movie, as if he wasn't really in it, though seeing "Howling Mad Murdoch" as Dr. Opp is an added bonus--it's hard to believe the same guy has that kind of dramatic depth. Anyway, well done movie: 8/10.
