Minutes. This movie was very well done it had you scared even though you didnt see the killer, this is when they really made good horror before all the special effect became the star if the movies. Easy 5/5 stars

In the late 1950s, Camp Crystal Lake suffered a terrible tragedy when a boy was drowned and two revenge killings were carried out. For twenty years the summer camp remains deserted until a young couple arrive with a group of teenagers, planning to repair the camp and reopen for business. But they don't heed the warnings of the locals and the kids start dropping like flies.

When John Carpenter blew the horror genre wide open with Halloween in 1978, writer Victor Miller and director Sean S. Cunningham took their opportunity to jump on the bandwagon. At little expense they produced what looked like being a quirky rip-off, and whilst there is an element of truth in this assumption, Friday the 13th is a quality imitation. Essentially retelling Halloween's story in a more remote environment, and adding a killer twist to the ending, this film is what really cemented the new "slasher" style. As Wes Craven points out in Scream sixteen years later, "There are certain rules to surviving a horror movie.." and Friday the 13th did as much to establish these rules as any contemporaries. Not only does the graphic violence make the audience feel like victims, we are also incriminated with the killer by the clever use of first person perspective camera shots. We are forced to see through his eyes as the teenagers are observed from the shadows. The twist at the end is one of the greatest in horror history, and the final scare is both unexpected and inspired, but make sure you stop here as the TV series and nine or so sequels are best avoided.
