Unlike most other reviews, I didn't enjoy this film. It had me interested initially, but as it moved on I just couldn't get into it. It's too bad, Depp in a period piece is usually an awesome combo, (From Hell, Sleepy Hollow, Pirates), but this one just didn't do it for me.

This is some deep stuff once you get past snickering at the blatant sexual content. Had to rewind a few times cause John's talking so low.

I am in complete awe of this movie, it was funny, entertaining and sad at the same time, he says in the beginning you will not like him, but I think by the end of the movie we do like him...this is one of my favorite

Wasn't really sure if to watch this or not as one of the main reasons for me watching this was for Tom Hollander. But I'm glad I did watch this good period drama very long winded movie.

Impeccable movie and dare I say Depp's best work in my HO. Have watched several times, indeed this is his coup de grace.

Hmmm this was very challenging movie if I dare say, It looked more like a theater play, but no matter I liked it anyway. With Johny playing Johny words are just in the way!!! 10/10

This to me is Depps coup de grace, opus magnum...he pulls off the sexiest, shrewdest, meanest and most pitiable, but beloved, character. 5/5

The Libertine is a wonderful piece of art, representing the true raison d'être of this poet with incredible wit and insight.

A film deeper than it's subject matter would have you suppose. Not one for those that have limited emotional capacities.
