some minor chuckles, but not up to much. The first was better, but - let's face it - Peter Sellers will always be Clouseau. I like Steve Martin (Although he seems to have lost so much of the sparkle that made him great), and he did a pretty fair job with this. IMO, what they should have done was reinvented the character, as was done with Johnny English. The inept detective still has a place in modern comedy, but Sellers made this role his own. Why not Inspector Jack Clause, or something as such, working for the NYPD? Or Jake Klaus, a German ironic cop? Some things just should not be reproduced.

This movie was extremely painful to watch. I am a dire hard fan of the original Pink Panther series and although a noble attempt by Steve Martin I believe that this role can only be played by the great Peter Sellers.

Steve's acting makes up for some of this stupidity but while it has some funny bits here and there whom ever wrote the script was really trying to hard to be funny.
