After winning an Oscar for her subtle, moving performance in "Johnny Belinda", Warner gave Jane Wyman a "present": a film directed by Alfred Hitchcock, but co-star Marlene Dietrich, and, to a lesser extent, Hitchcock himself, enjoyed making Wyman's life hell during the entire shooting!
