For the most part, many newcomers will be tempted to watch the new American adaptation of this movie (titled "Let Me In") as opposed to sitting through the Swedish-spoken original, itself based upon the successful novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist. However, in no place will they find the wonderfully-dark magic at play in this production, neither will they find a young actress better suited to play the vampire character central to this particular story.

If you like vampires.. this is the one. Want to know what a day in the life of a vampire is like? This film is realistic, bloody, but not gorry. I preferred the subtitles over the dubbed version. The way it sounded in original language added to the experience. When I saw the dubbed version, it did not match. This is about a young vampire that befriends a young boy. In no time the young boy, Oscar, falls in love with Eli, yet he does not know about her yet. He is intrigued by numerous murders in the area, and very intrigued by Eli. He has his hunches and finally asks her,towards the end of the movie, and she tells him the truth. The characters were well played and it is a very good story. Reminds me of Twilight, yet better. Oscar gets beat up in middle school. Together they can get rid of the bullies for good. Throughout the movie she leaves him because she does not want to hurt him.
She seems to have enough control of her bloody appetite to continue the relation ship. Very good movie...

Let The Right One In is the best film I've seen in a long time.
It is the only film I can think of within the "Horror" genre that I can comfortably call beautiful. However, would I necessarily class this as a "Horror"? In all honesty, no I wouldn't.
Sure, it has all of the aspects a good horror requires, but there is much more depth to this film than many others of it's kind.
A beautiful love story intertwined with genuinely unsettling sequences bestow this film with a uniqueness I am yet to see from another production.

The story follows Oskar; a bullied 12 year old boy without a friend in the world. However, one day he meets the young and mysterious Eli, and soon enough a friendship develops between the two. A friendship that quickly blossoms into love. And when Oskar learns of Eli's connection to the gruesome events occurring in town he is torn between his head and his heart - to stay away from her and lose her or to protect the only person in the world he loves so dearly, and who loves him back.

The contrasting themes within the film are remarkable: Beauty and Destruction, Life and Death, Love and Hate, and they are all handled in such a way by Director Tomas Alfredson within the snowy suburban setting that it truly makes this film a pleasure to watch.

Kare Hedebrant and Lina Leandersson produce fantastic performances as the two young leads and only add to the films greatness. It is hard to find a single thing to criticize this film on.
The direction is brilliant, the cinematography is stunning, the performances are mesmerizing and the soundtrack is haunting. It is a true accomplishment in film-making.

If you are a devout horror fan, you will love this film.
If you love romance, you will love this film.
There truly is something for everyone. And after only seeing this film recently, I now see why it has won over 40 awards worldwide.

Let The Right One In tugs at the heart strings more than any other film of it's kind. A heartwarming love story weaved in with terror and enough lashings of ultra violence to keep any gore-hound happy.
