This Movie was GREAT!! I Love Sandra Bullock. One of my Favorite actresses. What a great match up. Ryan Reynolds and Betty White, what great casting. This movie was funny and real fun to watch. I really enjoyed it alot. 10/10. A nice relaxing movie. Good for the family to watch together. Want a good movie to watch, take a look at this one. Enjoy!!!

The Proposal starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds is an entirely predictable romantic comedy – you can guess exactly what’s going to happen next at pretty much any point in the film. And yet, surprisingly, it works.

Bullock stars as Margaret, the book-publisher boss from hell – think Meryl Streep from The Devil Wears Prada but without the biting sarcasm. When she’s at the verge of being deported back to her native Canada for visa problems, Margaret blackmails her assistant of three years Andrew (played by Reynolds) into marrying her so she can stay on in the US.

Seduced by the promise of a promotion, Andrew agrees. To convince a skeptical immigration officer, however, the couple must fly to Andrew’s family home in Alaska for his grandmother’s 90th birthday.

Even as they set out to deceive his family, Andrew and Margaret – who start of not particularly fond of each other – eventually fall in love. Along the way though Margaret must go through a series of awkward encounters – with a local male stripper, an excited puppy, and a cellphone-stealing hawk.

The Proposal has precisely one thing going for it and that’s the chemistry between its leads. Sparks fly as Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds spar and exchange barbs; look out for a particularly comical scene in which both characters accidentally clash into each other while naked.

There’s a charming ease to the film, and that’s provided largely by the natural beauty of Andrew’s hometown, and also by the delightful performances of such supporting characters as Andrew’s bizarre but lovable granny (played by Betty White), and the local shopkeeper-cum-priest-cum-exotic dancer Ramone (played by Oscar Nunez).

Despite the fact that it follows a standard blueprint, The Proposal is an entertaining one-time watch for those who like their movies all warm and fuzzy. I’m going with three out of five. I’m embarrassed to admit I enjoyed it.

I loved this movie, has a ton of laughs. I only wish Betty White had a bigger part as the grandmother, she was excellent. Bullock plays a cold hearted business woman with no social life who has to marry her assistant, Reynolds, so she doesn't get deported to Canada. To bad for her they have to go through an interview with Immigration and to pass that they need to know about each other, which they don't because she's a bitch with no friends. They have to spend the weekend together with Reynolds family and this is where all the fun stuff happens.

Wow i loved this movie, Sandra as usual very very funny in a comedy, the story was very interesting with great start and and good finish very romantic in my opinion. Acting as usal with sandra and all other actors in this film was great pleasure to watch and so so funny, i would give this film 10/10

Okay, I had been really excited to see The Proposal ever since it came out. I was hyping it up a lot when I knew it wasn't going to be a masterpiece, but I just love Sandra Bullock and Betty White and couldn't wait to get my hands on this film! When I did, it definitely lived up to my expectations.

The thing with The Proposal was you could predict the ending and predict some events that would be happening throughout the film and some of the main problems were cliché, but I wasn't basing my opinions on this movie to be,"Is it going to be predictable, because if it is, I won't like it!" No, I wasn't like that, because I knew this film was going to be predictable here and there, but I was looking to see if they made it enjoyable and at least brought some fresh, new material to the table, which they certainly did that! I thought some scenes were just so wonderfully done and the whole movie itself was constructed perfectly for the type of movie that it is.

I had a really good time watching The Proposal and thought it was great entertainment with insanely lovable characters; I wanted to shriek with joy every time I saw Grandma Annie; a lot of incredibly humorous scenes at times, my favorites were when Margaret and Grandma Annie were dancing to the spirits which got the biggest laughs out of any part of the movie from me and when the dog was picked up by an eagle and Margaret was chasing it around trying to get her phone back; both hysterical, and some questionable, yet sweet and charming dialogue; Near the end in the office was cute and original, and the credits were funny as well with the dialogue in them. This movie while being cliché, as I've stated many times, did still pack a very powerful punch and made me laugh, cry and enjoy it tremendously, so therefore it succeeded in what it was meant to do in the first place and that was to entertain. I loved it for the light-hearted, pleasant and fun comedy that it is....

Seriously AWESOME movie. Everything I like to see in a comedy/romance. Sandra Bullock was HILARIOUS as usual and it was different for me to see her play a cold hearted person, but I fell in love with her by the end & Ryan Reynolds was perfection. You can tell how much chemistry those two have. 10/10 deffinately! Top 5 favorite movies =]

"The Proposal" is a movie about a couple who start out hating each other and end up liking each other. It's a funny thing about that. I started out hating the movie and ended up liking it.

It opens on a rather cheerless note, as the portrait of Margaret (Sandra Bullock), a tyrannical book editor, and Andrew (Ryan Reynolds), her long-suffering assistant. Known on office instant message as the Witch, she terrorizes underlings, fires the man who wants her job and orders Andrew to marry her.

How that happens is, she's a Canadian in danger of being deported -- she imperiously ignored the law -- and now she figures if she gets married, she'll get her green card. She and Andrew blackmail each other in their prenuptial hostage negotiations, and fly off to Sitka, Alaska, to meet his folks. Sitka turns out to be a charming waterfront town, filled with chic little shops like the Fudgery, no fast-food stores or franchise chains and a waterfront that looks less like a working fishing harbor than a tourist resort. Perhaps that's because the movie was was filmed not in Alaska, but in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Alaska might have been too real for this fantasy.

So I was sitting there, cringing, knowing with uncanny certainty where the story was going. No movie begins with scenes of a man and a woman who are utterly incompatible unless it ends with them in love, unless perhaps it might be one about Hitler and Eleanor Roosevelt. They will fly to Alaska, she will be charmed by his family, she will be moved by the community spirit, she will love the landscape after the skyscraper towers of Manhattan, and they will have misadventures, probably involving unintended nudity and someone falling off a boat. So it is written.

But slowly, reluctantly, disbelievingly, they will start to warm up to each other. And it was about at that point when reluctantly, disbelievingly, I began to warm up to them. Bullock is a likable actress in the right roles, which she has been avoiding frequently since "Speed 2: Cruise Control" (1997), which I liked more than she did. She is likable here because she doesn't overdo it and is convincing when she confesses that she has warmed to his family's embrace -- and who would not, since Andrew's mother is the merry Mary Steenburgen and his grandmother is the unsinkable Betty White. His father, Craig T. Nelson, is not quite so embraceable, but only because he is protective.

The key scene involves Steenburgen and White fitting Granny Annie's wedding dress for Bullock, and the presentation of a family heirloom. I don't care how much of a witch a woman is, when she sees herself in the mirror wearing her grandmother-in-law's gown, she's going to cave in. For that matter, Bullock was never that convincing as the Office Witch; she could not have touched Meryl Streep's work in "The Devil Wears Prada."

"The Proposal" is much enhanced by all of the supporting performances. Betty White, at 87, makes her character 89 and performs a Native American sunrise ceremony beside a campfire in the forest, which is not easy, especially in the Alaskan summer when the sun hardly sets. And look for a character named Ramone (Oscar Nunez), who will remind you of an element in "Local Hero."

"The Proposal" recycles a plot that was already old when Tracy and Hepburn were trying it out. You see it coming from a great distance away. As it draws closer, you don't duck out of the way, because it is so cheerfully done, you don't mind being hit by it.
