you winch the vehicle a bit then you put something underneath it, then you winch it a bit more, put something else under it, until you get to leverage point when just a nudge puts it on its wheels. why has he quit so easily?

what a fing moron, he says hes gonna build a gigantic signal fire for someone to see him and he does this during the night when noone will fly in heli...only thing he had to do is to keep the fire going through the night and into the day when search started, they wouldve seen the smoke immediately. then he says, he remembers golden rule of survival, to stay put, but the moron moves away from the campsite and fire he has started with his last match, what kind of idiot does that?

if you get in trouble like that, remove the hose from the engine, suck the fuel out of the tank, remove the battery out of the car, use a wire to short circuit a battery and spark the fuel soked cloth to build fire, then put the battery close to it to make it warmer, then when it warms up enough put it back into car and start the car, let it build some heat, make a torch and melt the ice under the cars tires, move the car a bit and make a room to put tire chains on, then if possible, use couple of larger wooden sticks, hand diameter, regular ski lenght, put then under front tires to decrease snow 'drag coefficient', and rope em on front wheels as skis, then start sking the car on the road until you break free.

This is a real testimony to the human spirit and will to live. Great watch. You can do anything if you have the drive of your family behind you!!

Excellent all the way through. Great watch, there was even humour thrown into a life and death situation. A moral issue is at the center of this, I wonder what most people would have done. Would it actually depend on who it was you left behind? I would give this a 9/10!!

This was just riveting from beginning to end. Wow the way things can go wrong in any given situation is just crazy, one thing though, i think sometimes people are just so sure nothing will they are not that well prepared if it does. They were a very strong willed family and had to fight for every inch of their survival. I can't give this away so i shall say no more You won't regret watching this, more than worth your time for sure. 9.5/10

Very good documentary but very sad as well. In my opinion there should have been a better plan , in the event something did go wrong, they had a way out. I would imagine there were some law suits filed in that situation. The Grand Canyon is a very unforgiving place that's for sure. 9/10

Alot of the links in different episodes go to the "Lost in the African Bush" ...The one with the airplane cover shot... and another lot just never loads, but it seems like about half of them work right.

Excellent show!!!! but so many of the episodes are out of order, its driving me crazy I'm tempted to go through all of them and correct the titles report the links in the wrong episodes etc.

I agree, these two were kind of stupid! Typical 'smug couple' type, nothing can touch them coz they have each other and the money to take holidays all over the world!

If the movie Open Water was based on this story - which I think it is - then it was hugely over-dramatised!!

This was so sad, I didn't see what happened coming. :(
