this movie is sad but twisted and i dont agree that they have a teenager messin round with a grown man... that is totally perverted...she was a bad ass lil girl she needs a woopen...

I am very much aware that it deals with very sensitive and twisted topics, but no matter how many people criticize it- and me, for loving it- this movie is and always will be one of my favourites. The cast was amazing, the acting superb, and I thought Dominique Swain played the little nymphet character very well. Jeremy Irons was.... phenomenal. There are no words to describe that actor. I preferred this version to the 1962 (I think that's the year) movie. 5/5, this deserved it. <3

Excellent, excellent, excellent movie! Considering the book was too much for my poor little mind to handle (emotion-wise, and the elongated terribleness of the pedophilia act), but movie cut it down without leaving out a lot of the amazing aspects that Nabokov wanted his readers to feel. Huzzah for decent movies based off of novels!

An amazing film and great adaptation to the book. The description is loosely based -in my opinion it needs to be greatly edited-. Dominique Swain's best performance, apparently; this was the high-light of here career, sadly.

I really liked this movie. The plot was really weird and a little disturbing to me. Beautifully done though and the acting was AMAZING. Really original movie. Very entertaining. Definetly worth watching. And just as good as the original.

I have seen this movie a long time ago and I thought it was good. it used to be shown on tv but not anymore. dominique swain did a very good job for her first film and jeremy irons is always good.

i wept. i wanna read the book so bad but dont have the resources so this one will be good for now. i just adored the scenery and the little details that they put to make it look like its really vintage back then and the cinematography is to die for, i like slow movies and this was just beautiful. it felt like he was doomed from the start but it just kept going. it was painful and lovely at the same time. Jeremy Irons is so handsome and Dominiques is just so pretty. this one is a real psych. i mean he was in love with her and at the same time trying to raise her while trying to stop himself from overindulging, i mean cmon, who wouldnt go nuts? the ending was .. heart stopping and it has so much class. i dont know why they dont make movies with class anymore, or is it just me. beautiful! 10/10

A beautifully twisted tale. Filled with everything you want in a story and everything you don't. Dominique Swain does a smashing performance for her first role. Worth the watch. 3/5.

A disturbing film but well done. Dark and twisted and tragic. Don't think I'd watch it again but it is very disturbing but it was worth this one time watch.

Great acting, great movie, the scenery is wonderful. The sad thing is that this type of thing happens all the time. Anyway, I give it a 5/5 Stars. The only thing missing from this movie was the dark comedy from the book, but this is not the book. Its a movie.

I had only seen the original version with James Mason and Shirley Winters. Although it took me an hour and 15 minutes to get into it due to the subject matter and how really well it played out, the last 30 minutes was worth the wait. Frank Langella was excellent!

Studied this in school. The biginning made me feel a little uncomfortable, then I just felt bad for the guy, he was so in love.

"Hurbert made a CHOICE.He could choose not to,but he decided his obsession was more important than the law,or even what was good for the young person;probably why it turned out that way.While,yes,you could see his side of it,I agree,it only made him seem more pitiful,sad,and tragic;even hopeless.No matter how sweetly he presented it,You could see that his warped ideal would only end badly.Excellent direction,acting by Jeremy Irons,Melanie Griffith,and the young girl.Yes,Nabokov can almost persuade you that Humbert's perspective is correct.Good writer.(also,I saw the old version with James Mason,Shelley Winters,and Sue Lyon,which is very good,but this is much more moving.probably more accurate.)
