Great great movie

5* cast 5* movie,gut wrenching and brilliant,probably the best survival film out there.

Love the movie no matter how many times I watch it!

Given the knowledge from the onset of the movie that the story and characters are real, we are plunged into a world where man must choose whether or not he wants to survive and live to see the world as he knows it once more. The reality i felt when watching this movie was how easily we take for granted things like food to eat, clean clothes to wear, and warmth that comes from blankets and heaters. By the middle of the movie (when watching it last night after nearly 10 years) i was aghast at the sheer strength of some of all of the people that survived the initial crash of the actual plane. And when the deciding moment arrives where they must choose whether they are willing to eat human flesh to survive and find a way beyond the Andes, I found i asked myself 'what would you do?'. The answer is, i don't know. i truly don't. This movie makes you realise how precious life is, and how we should never take anything for granted. How we should be thankful of all that we have, and yet how easy it is to lose all that just by a bad twist of fate. Call this movie what you will, I think it's a must-see for everyone because it really happened. There are lessons to be learned, morals to be recognised, and questions to be asked and somehow solved. Each person/character you will encounter in this movie is unique which makes it all the more worthwhile to watch. Because you find yourself sympathetic with the viewpoints of all the men and women in the movie yet at the same time questioning what decision you would make if you were in their place. Maybe we never will know or understand what they went through. But by watching this movie and reading the book, it will help us become wiser people and possibly open our minds to the endless enigma that is life, God, and the vastness and emptiness of the world that lies not so beyond our reach.

This has to be one of the best if not the best survival movie ever! Well-produced, acted and scripted, this is a film that has to be seen to be experienced, even by those who know the entire story.

Hands down gud ass movie...and ohh yeah if it were me in that situation some folks would get eaten cause its easy to say what you wouldnt do when you have food in the fridge try starving for a week and then say you wouldnt eat a mule lol you would start eating grass,insects and everything else,one things for sure humans cant live without food and water,i hope i never have to go threw something like that i cant even begin to imagine but check out the movie you wont regret it.. this one is in my favs.

I've watched this movie numerous times and it's still one of my all time favorites. Such a tragic true story but also one about the power of faith. Five star movie!

5/5 because no matter what you think of this movie, it is based on a true story and the bravery some of these men showed is admirable. The acting was god, and Ethan Hawke is simply gorgeous and talented. As a kid when I watched this movie I didn't like it because I didn't really understand a lot of what these people had to go through, but I very much enjoy it now. There was a bit much 'God' talk for my tastes, but to each their own. Something helped them through. Be it God or each other.

This is a terrific movie based on a real event. True survival extremes. I recommend you eat your snack at the start. 9/10

great movie to watch.

I heard about this tragedy & triumph ever since I was a child, but never saw the film. I must say...there's so many mix of emotions. I will purchase it and keep it as one of my biggest influential films. I have always found it interesting how so many "predict" exactly what they "would" & "would not do" do in particular dier situation, however they have no idea. So it's a catch 22, your damned if you do and your damned if you don't. People can judge all they want, of course their were people who judged them who belonged to no religion as well. Dead or alive, you choose. If people wish to make it solely based on God then you're to fight for this precious life given to you, that breath that makes you so and that's what they did. Those were & are some strong/brave people including the 1's who passed during those 65 days there. Good day.- Stolee

the 1st time i saw this movie i was shocked and couldnt believe this could happen but apparantly it has and im sure not the only time this has happened. how much can one person handle when faced with a situation such as this. 2 thumbs way up.

The biography"Alive"is a true story about the survivors of a rugby(I heard,soccer team)team,who's airplane crashed in the Andes.They survived,sixteen of them,by eating the dead bodies of those who died.Yes,I heard they were very roundly condemed,for wanting to live.(Uh,I would probably do the same thing,if I wanted to survive.I've accidentally eaten worms in apples,heck.)But you never know what laws of society you would break,to stay alive.This is a very wonderful,tough,heart breaking story of how they stayed alive,and how they felt close to God,out in the wilds of the Andes.I highly recommend it.I also say,who is anyone who condemns them,for having to resort to cannibilism?Men have murdered,stolen,raped,sexually molested children,and they usually let them out of prison eventually;or,let them go.(very common in the United States.)These survivors had to deal with Catholic judgements,and now we know what THOSE are worth!Not bloody much.(I did not know that the survivors lived in their own community,now.I'd like to read more about it.)One of the interesting things,is since they were mostly members of a sports team,they were used to working together,electing a leader,and being more cohesive than just a bunch of stray people on a plane.I think this was very important to their surviving.In the end,only God can judge what each man does,to survive,and also,the man himself.(review)So,who is mankind,to judge these people,for wanting so badly to survive,and not leave this life?I highly recommmend this movie,as it is very good.

One of my fav survival movies of all time. I saw this a long time ago but never knew the story behind it before I saw the movie, which for me made it even that better when at the end I found out it was based on a true story. Everything about this is incredible and this movie is a must watch. 5/5

um, they DID make a fire when they had anything extra to burn. There was an entire scene set around the fire.

My mom recommended this to me a while ago. 5/5 Stars just because of the story and what those people had to go through.

Love these true stories of survival. some of these guys had balls of granite! they did what they had to do. period!

and the other guys ate them.

They survived partly because they were trained athletes. What chances regular folk like you and me could have.
