Watch My Fair Lady: Gloriously witty adaptation of the Broadway musical about Professor Henry Higgins, who takes a bet from Colonel Pickering that he can transform unrefined, dirty Cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle into a lady, and fool everyone into thinking she really is one, too! He does, and thus young aristocrat Freddy Eynsford-Hill falls madly in love with her. But when Higgins takes all the credit and forgets to acknowledge her efforts, Eliza angrily leaves him for Freddy, and suddenly Higgins realizes he's grown accustomed to her face and can't really live without it. |

I absolutely love this movie and have since I discovered it about 15 years ago(I own it on VHS and have watched it so many time I've lost count) and was completely overjoyed when my high school literature teacher had us read Pygmalion from which the movie originated.

This film is the cream of Hollywood's musicals.Visually it's like a wedding cake with set designs and costumes.The delightful witty screen play is the expensive wines and marvelous acting served for our benefit, is the main course.No wonder it won 8 Oscars, was nominated for 4 more and won 14 other awards. With top notch big name talents from various fields coming together to create this work of art,no wonder the result is the high class jewel still treasured today.The film does point out that it wasn't just money that divided the social classes, but also how one conducted themselves in their mannerisms and speech.Which an education reflected.Something that hasn't really changed even today.Mix the snappy pace, delightful charm of a young woman, stuffy detachment of a professor going head to head revealing two very different social classes on a collision course, and wrap it all in heart touching music. A timeless classic that's been called the perfect musical.Wow!5/5
