Watch House of Usher: After a long journey, Philip arrives at the Usher mansion seeking his loved one, Madeline. Upon arriving, however, he discovers that Madeline and her brother Roderick Usher have been afflicted with a mysterious malady: Roderick's senses have become painfully acute, while Madeline has become catatonic. That evening, Roderick tells his guest of an old Usher family curse: any time there has been more than one Usher child, all of the siblings have gone insane and died horrible deaths. As the days wear on, the effects of the curse reach their terrifying climax. |

I am a fan of the old Vincent Price movies but this is such a low budget film I could hardly watch it.

For those who enjoy older classics,this movie is great.The set designs are creepy,with lots of attention to details that would make a haunted house envy.The storyline is very close to the original Edgar Allen tale.Lots of long shots,great acting from the famous Vincent Price and nice touches from minor charactors help move the plot along. You will find that this story helped launch the themes for many movies we later have come to enjoy.We get to see the complex relationship between a loving and dominating brother struggling against a romanticly determained young man who insists on leaving with his betrothed. All the while confronted with discovering exactly what the secret of the House of Usher really is.As is so often the case,reality can be quite disturbing.For the times in which this was made, it was well recieved.6/10
