Could have been better. The story needed to be tighter. Seemed like the movie wandered around too much. TLJ did salvage it though. 7/10

Load up was so slow I wanted to pull my face off! Other than that the movie was pretty good.

Apart from all the negative comments, this was an enjoyable laid back cop thriller. The music and location made up for some of the more lacking parts of the movie.

According to the comments this seemed like a really great movie, i have to admit i fell asleep, it was boring and slow, nothing interesting happened until after 50 min. imo i didn't think it had that special extra, Tommy Lee's charachter i liked, but it felt like a real slow 90's thriller. Maybe the novel is better as everyone says here, but i shouldn't fall for that since the comments also told this was a good movie. The description of the movie made it seem like something completely else. "Surreal encounters with confederated soldiers" is not the main thread in the movie, or maybe i didn't get it. 1/5

didnt no what to make of it abit slow and didnt make sense have the time but i thought tommy lee did a good job but the movie could have been better anyways worth a watch so peace

Have to agree with ParallelReflexion below. I was really into this up to about 40mins in but then it just got real boring and slow and i turned off after 1hr 10mins. Just a slow dull jumpy story-line and yes maybe the books a better bet. 4/10

Entertaining but the book by James Lee Burke is way better.Being from Louisiana and residing in New Iberia at one time I can tell you that EVERYONE(excluding the obvious locals) including Tommy failed dismally when it comes to the Cajun accent.Accent aside Tommy nails the character of Dave Robicheaux,and good performances by John Goodman and Mary Steenburgen

Wow Great movie great Acting although the Cajun accent isn't the best i think this was Tommy Lee Jones'best performance and also John Goodman's.Almost as good as the book.I don't believe this film wasn't even released in North American Movie Theaters unbelievable.What some smart ass Survey was made which figured out that for the North American Movie goers this isn't violent and Action Packed enough or what???Ill give it 5/5 for the film Thanx
