This is one of the Arnie classics.The butcher of bakersfield! if you liked this read the book very different ending. Like I said, it's not trying to be a serious art film, but it IS surprisingly layered for a 80s shoot-em-up flick. The premise is borrowed from a Richard Bachman (aka Stephen King) short novel, but diverges fairly strongly from its source material, especially towards the end. (The book ends rather nihilistically; needless to say this movie doesn't.) I enjoyed both, but I like the movie better. Arnie-"I'll be back" Dawson-" Only in a rerun"

Great n enjoyable movie. Arnold is a great entertainer n tis movie hv lots hv actions n the story is far ahead of it's time. It's sort of like Gamer bt better than Gamer.

Classic for its time but this movie was one of the first times i read the book after and the amount of changes from the Stephen King(aka Richard Bachmann) clearly shows how Hollywood strips away a lot of the real best-selling material from the script. If u liked this movie u will almost be dumb struck after reading the short story.
