Watch Heartburn: An autobiographical look at the breakup of Ephron's marriage to Carl "All the President's Men" Bernstein that was also a best-selling novel. The Ephron character, Rachel is a food writer at a New York magazine who meets Washington columnist Mark at a wedding and ends up falling in love with him despite her reservations about marriage. They buy a house, have a daughter, and Rachel thinks they are living happily ever after until she discovers that Mark is having an affair while she is waddling around with a second pregnancy. |

Thanx uploader! No complaints on the quality. The movie itself is so awesome. One of Meryl Streeps best role in my opinion, although she has lots! Jack Nicholson is not too bad either even though I didn't like the role he played it well. Sad story but, really happens in life, this is a total Drama, but such a great movie, I cried. 5/5

actually, I did not see it back then. I gave it a fair try now but I dont get Meryl Streep in this role at all. She sort of annoyed me from minute one and I also did not believe Jack Nicholsons character. I felt absolutely no connection between the two of them. So for me it was a waste of time. Two great character players wasted on average roles and being bored playing the stuff was the feeling I got from it.

'Heartburn' is based on essayist/screenwriter Nora Ephron's marriage to 'Watergate' journalist Carl Bernstein and its public implosion. In addition to the autobiographical aspects and well-done feel of some segments of both NYC and DC life during the 70s-80s, Meryl Streep's performance captures for me something Ephron wrote about earlier in her career: a poignant essay about how she, as a non-classically beautiful woman, learned to develop her intellect and wit to be more attractive to men. Having given the movie a thumbs up, I will say that I prefer the book to the movie.
