so many good crazy scenes. the helicopter landing in mexico was done without permit and you can see them in a hurry doing it. and the dogs on crosses were actually loaned (according to Alejandro Jodorowsky interview) from a local dining establishment and later returned to be served for lunch. the smashing of statues is just so profound to me, growing up in latin catholic church when i was young, it just made sense to me if you ever questioned wwjd? lol. i think Alejandro got it right. and the purification scene, so bloody good. i also have the soundtrack on grooveshark saved, pm me and i will link it to ya, pretty crazy soundtrack if you have never heard it. a great film. and hello vampbabe, always a pleasure to be commenting near ya. enjoy this movie. and el topo is crazy good. i have yet to see fando y lis, and thanks to a reminder from vampbabe i will. word peace anon ps-no attempt at snobbery but most will not dig this film, its not your general audience, and may i suggest watching it in acts, or pieces, sometimes a little of Alejandro is better than a bunch at once. just an opinion :)

I love this film. Alejandro Jordowski is very cerebral like Fellini with an edge. This is an artsy movie with and tons of subtexts and symbolism. If you enjoyed this movie you should also watch Fando and Lis as well as El Topo. Please note this director is from Chile so most if not all of his films are in Spanish or portorguese. That said, he is really a genius before his time.

WOW! Must see the movie from start to finish at least one time...if you dare. Very deep, weird and psychedelic... definitely there were drugs involved in the writing & making of this movie. Thanks for sharing.

A mix of Surrealism and mysticism with some interesting imagery rather than a straight forward story similar to the style of a David Lynch film. If you like the works of Gurdjieff and Castaneda you might like it. Also John Lennon helped make it!

I Love this movie !!! .. if u know spanish , read a book by Carlos castañeda, called .. las enseñanzas de don juan ..!!! .. totally trippy !! .. talks about the mexican indians, and they traditions with peyote and more medicinal herbs !!!! actually Jodorowsky knew carlos castañeda, and they were gonna do a project together, by the time they met, Castañeda didnt feel good vibes from Jodorowsky and the project was never concluded ! trippy !!!!!!

if your not a fan of the abstract I dont recommend. The film has levels, upon levels of religious and psychological meanings & symbology. I couldn't make it thru 30 min. I feel like it would take more brain power than I'm willing to designate to understanding this film. I will say this...Best part of the movie (of what i watched) is when Jesus and the guy with no arms or legs smoke a phattie...at least i think that was Jesus

One of the greatest pieces of art in cinematic history. This was probably the first real surreal film I saw, as a sixteen-year old in high school, and it changed my life for the better. So involved and experimental, Jodorowsky dedicated an incredible thrust of energy into shattering taboos and pushing boundaries. Anyone interested or involved in the occult must see this epic masterpiece!
