"don't you wanna go where the rainbow ends?" love it! 9/10

I really like this film, I am a huge Kubrick fan and I have read the novella it is based on too but they have bad spelling so they are not intelligent is one horrid argument against the people who did not enjoy the film.

big big fan of Nicole but not Tom so I've only decided to watch it today since I came across it. as to what I have to say about this film... hummm.. loved the elegance, costumes and such beautiful women including Nicole being the most beautiful one. the mind playing / control was.. not sure what word to use here but either some of you will get it and some of you will not but watch it. way worth the watch. I give it 5/5

I get it. Good movie, keeps your interest, yes it's long but time flies, mostly Tom's movie and a smaller role for Nicole. 3.5 out of 5 stars.

ummmmm.............!!!!

This film-which was past due for a viewing for me-has inspired me to make a Kubrick's playlist. Go and check me out there (can't post the link yet :0P) I read a rather lengthy review while watching the movie and it is clear that there is something deeper going on here then jealousy, infidelity and sex. It definitely has sociological implications of how all the world is consumer-driven sheep who inevitably and essentially get f$%^d(at high frequency most of the time). Considering the nature of humans it only makes sense to distract from the harsh truth that we are all bought commodities with the blinding escaping pleasure of orgasms and alot of them :)

It was the first Kubrick film to open at number one at the box office. However, Kubrick was not alive to see it happen (BBC). The film deals with desire, infatuation, marital faith and faithlessness. Cruise can't get out of his head an erotic fantasy that his wife (Kidman) confessed to him under a haze of marijuana, prior to an apparently planned session of the old bingo-bango. His obsession leads him through a series of potential carnal encounters, each one surrounded by the spectre of death. Illicit coitus and annihilation lurks around every corner. A mysterious, highly ritualised journey. PERPLEXING. Harvey Keitel was FORMERLY co-starring . Keitel and Kidman just did a scene in which Keitel's character was supposed to stand behind Kidman's character and masturbate. Keitel is not only a fine actor, he is a METHOD actor. You probably see what is coming. Kidman didn't. Keitel did not simulate masturbation, he engaged in it on the set. He ejaculated into Nicole Kidman's hair!!! (Disgusting, but how could we blame him?) The next morning, Kubrick reluctantly fired Mr.Keitel (IMDb). Whether the film would have been better with Keitel in it, we will never know. There is also the conspiracy theory of Scientologists, Illuminati, orchestrating Kubrick’s death as retaliation for the film, which makes it so interesting to read reviews on "Eyes Wide Shut" (IMDb). I give credit to Kubrick for never shying away from shots that point up how short Cruise is, especially in comparison to his ex-wife and to the statuesque Amanda/Mandy. By the way, Mandy has not a single scene in the film in which she's fully clothed. Not that I'm complaining, of course. Overall, i think it is an awkward movie, where both Kidman and Cruise seem a bit flat. Like the series of animalistic encounters in it that are cut short of their climaxes, the film leaves almost every major question posed unanswered. It seemingly possesses limitless depth. Too deep for me. Perhaps Kubrick wanted to make a simple statement: the monogamous relationship that lies at the foundation of our civilization is a lie in which people pretend that they have no desire for others. I assume that couples after watching this film look nervously at one another and ask: "Do you have something to tell me?"

Good movie I love Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, I think they made a good couple, in here and real life, I don't blame her Tom Cruise went a lil crazy but this movie mentally its not that hard to comprhend very good love the sex, would have loved a lil more details and would have like to know if Nick really got home or did they kill him and who was in that lil cult :-0
