Thirteen is a compelling story of a 7th grade girl, Tracy, who falls victim to peer pressure, as so many young girls today do. Feeling betrayed by her mother for being in a relationship with an addict and desperate to fit in with the popular croud, Tracy begins to dress scantily, experiment with drugs, and delve into sex. Tracy falls so deep into her new found habbits that she begins spiraling out of control. This movie is hard to watch at times, because it is portraying girls so young, but I think it is a very eye opening and realistic look at the disturbing situations young girls today face.

When I was thirteen i watched this movie and was completely blown away. Its tottaly real, and I saw kid around me going down the same path, including myself.Luckely i turned my life around because i didnt want to be like the girls in this movie. So if your thinking about watching this, do it.Trust me, its worth it.

True, "Thirteen" tries to cram too much into a 95 minute film. Cutting, sex, drugs, and alcohol are just a few of the things these teenagers experience. And yes, not many 13 year old girls get to experience all that at such an early age, but wake up people, it IS out there despite what you think. And that's why calling "Thirteen" unrealistic because of what it portrays is unjustified. All of us, at one point or another, have had a hard time fitting in. We have all felt alone and useless and angry. And "Thirteen" portrays all those feelings extremely well. It isn't an expertly written film, but it has heart and emotion.
A debut film from Catherine Hardwicke, Thirteen is a terrifying film about a little girl whose life goes right off the rails. Co-written by then 13-year-old Nikki Reed, who also co-stars in the movie, Thirteen features Evan Rachel Wood as Tracy, a nice kid in seventh grade, who wants to be popular. The movie begins with two girls engaged in a grotesque game of face-slapping and then goes back in time a few months. Here is an entirely innocent Tracy tossing out her stuffed animals -- a bit reluctantly -- while her mom looks on. Holly Hunter plays mom; she's a single mother and a hairdresser whose clients come to the house. Mom has her issues, but works hard to keep everything together.

At school, Tracy can only look with envy at a trio of popular girls led by the beautiful, well-dressed, grown-up Evie (Reed). Soon, Evie and Tracy bond over a little shoplifting, and in a matter of weeks, Tracy's life has changed completely. She becomes best friends with Evie and immediately joins the likes of the In-Crowd. Everything spirals straight downhill from there...

Evie is dangerous. She cons everyone who crosses her path, and before long she's actually living at Tracy's house and messing up the whole family.

was a bunch a pile of crap two 13 years old girls thinking they can just do whatever they want, but they can't it ridiculous skipping school, hanging out with their friends, doing drugs, sex, parties, or dealing volience at your house that's bad. Come on stuff like this don't happened in real life unless your a 7th grader in middle school/junior high doing that type of stuff that kids shouldn't be doing.

This film words cant discribe it if that is an exsample of kids today then i think god help us all because the fact of the matter is it is exciting,stupid,crazy i think that people should not explote chrildren like that if a child saw that they would think that is the right thing to do

I WISH THIS MOVIE WAS OUT WHEN I WAS 13, I THINK THIS MOVIE HAS A WONDERFUL WAY OF SHOWING WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU MIX PUBERTY, WITH DRUGS/DRINKING, AND LACK OF SUPERVISION, OR PARENTS WITH SO MANY ISSUES OF THEIR OWN THEY CAN'T FOCUS ON THEIR CHILDREN AND HOW SOME KIDS ARE FORCED TO GROW UP WAY TOO SOON AND HOW OTHERS ARE SO EASILY INFLUENCED BY THEIR FRIENDS AND/OR THEIR ENVIORMENT. IF YOU'RE A PARENT THIS MOVIE HAS A GOOD WAY OF REMINDING YOU OF WHAT YOUR KID GOES THROUGH. AS ADULTS WE SOMETIMES FORGET WHAT IT'S LIKE BEING THEIR AGE.
