When "The Terminator" was released in 1984 it was hailed as groundbreaking for it's amazing special effects for the time. James Cameron(Director of Alien & Titanic) created one of the greatest Science Fiction film that influenced other films for years to come. It's been almost twenty-five years and the power "The Terminator" released onscreen still holds strong even by today's standards this film is a gem of the golden era of Sci-Fi and helped usher in a new generation of Sci-Fi.





James Cameron's "The Terminator" is smart, taunt, highly entertaining, epic,breathtaking and visually stunning. It's essentially the perfect apocalyptic thriller with a theme so original and haunting it's almost scary, in fact it is scary. The main focal point of the plot is focused mainly on Sarah Connor a waitress who unknowingly has been marked for death due to the fact later on she gives birth to the future leader of the resistance. Sounds outrageous I know but it works on so many interesting and mind boggling levels that it just feels so real when it should feel cheesy and cheap, but this film is so great and powerful in it's story and execution that it just leaps out and grabs you and won't let you go until the credits roll.




Arnold Schwarzenegger is powerful and robotic(as he should be for a role like this.)he really gives this iconic character the realistic punch that it needs and requires. Linda Hamilton is good as Sarah Connor but she really lags in some places but she pulls the part off nicely. Michael Biehn as Kyle Resse is good but in noways a great actor his acting is poor in this film but it doesn't topple the picture but he doesn't help much either. But all in all the cast does well and holds up nicely and deliver good performances in one of the greatest Sci-Fi films of all time.


"The Terminator" is great and smart fun that can be watched as many times as you can take it It's just too good to ignore or pass up and once you see it you won't look at action flicks or Science Fiction/apocalyptic thrillers the same way ever again. All in all "The Terminator" is one futuristic adventure you'll want to take.

The Terminator is one of the all time greats featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger a cyborg sent back in time to destroy sarah connors the mother to the man who saves mankind in a war against machines in the future. This movie is a classic great and made it easy to give it 5/5 stars a must watch...

This is a classic film and a good trilogy. I think out of the entire sequel part two Judgement Day was my favourite. The only thing that I do not like is how Arnold was the bad guy in this film and then the good guy in part two. Well, the film is still a classical watch and should check it out if you have not as yet.

A sophisticated android (Schwarzenegger) is sent from the future to kill Sarah Connor (Hamilton). Her only protector is the intense rebel soldier, Reese (Biehn), who followed the Terminator back in time.

Opening in a future scorched by nuclear holocaust, giant robots (or "Hunter-Killers") pursue the scattered remnants of mankind through the desolate landscape. A subtitle reveals, "The machines' war to exterminate mankind has raged for decades", then Brad Fiedel's dramatic score crashes in. So begins James Cameron's far from subtle debut for Cyberdine Systems model 101, better known as the Terminator, one of sci-fi's most iconic creations. Although impossible to imagine anyone else in the role, Schwarzenegger wasn't the first choice. Originally, Lance Henriksen (who appears as police officer Vukovich, instead) was to play the part, but when Cameron saw the Austrian bodybuilder he was convinced his stature would lend a more intimidating quality to his robotic killing machine. The film launched Schwarzenegger's career and the relentless android became his signature character.

Essentially a series of pursuits and shootouts the film lacks the overblown scale and pomposity of its sequels and stays true to its B-movie roots. This more linear form better suits the clear concept and characters, most of whom have simple motivations and avoid stepping outside their remit. But the film still has an intelligent point to make, its intention to highlight fears of dehumanization and the dangers of our reliance on machines is frighteningly successful.

I saw this opening night and I really wanted to like it. People at my job even made fun of me for wanting to see it, that is how much I was rooting for this film. Obviously I know this is not Citizen Kane or the even far superior Point Break, but I had hopes of watching an enjoyable summer movie. I enjoyed the first one very much and was not expecting much substance in the sequel. That being said it was very poor. The opening race scene is very well done, but the rest of the movie is a mess. Paul Walker is not bad, but it is hard to enjoy any of the other performances. The villain (Cole Hauser) is one dimensional and his goons are stereotypical bad guys. One of the reasons the first one worked was because you actually liked Vin Diesel and his team. It is hard to like anyone in the sequel. The first one also had a certain style, with nice transitions between scenes (day to night time lapses, nos effects, etc.). If you don't have your lead actor (Vin Diesel), then at least spotlight the cars, the actual races and enhance the effects. There are actually only 3-4 real driving scenes. All they really did was show close-ups of gears shifting fifty times and blur the screen when the nos button was pressed. The ending is absolutely ridiculous. 4 out of 10 (The opening scene is awesome, thats it).

Rarely has a film so frightened an audience as "The Terminator." After its release in 1984, the extremely low-budget sci-fi actioner broke box office records, and gave audiences something more to fear. Through the years, there have been stories of nature's beasts, of creatures from another world, and so on and so forth. "Jaws" was terrifying because it seemed so possible. And if "Jaws" is terrifying, "The Terminator" is horrific. The realization of this hit-man machine dawned on everyone watching the film. In a time of exceeding technology, how long will it be before man is overtaken by the very things he created? And that is what is particularly scary about a film like "The Terminator."

In "The Terminator," Arnold plays a cyborg, Cyberdyne system model 101, a T800, whatever that means. He has been sent back in time to assassinate the soon-to-be-mother of the future world leader, John Connor (who battles the machines in the future and leads an uprising). If Connor is killed, then there will be no one to oppose the machines of the future, and they will triumph. This would be pretty bad. So the future John Connor has sent a protector back in time, to help save his mother. Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) tells Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) about the machine that is trying to kill her. "It can't be bargained with, it can't feel pain or mercy, and it will stop at absolutely nothing until you are dead!" Talk about a bad day.

The Terminator hunts them down time after time, including the famous police station scene, where Arnie says, "I'll be back," and returns moments later, crashing through the wall in a car. He then takes on a whole squad of cops, but don't worry, Sarah and Reese escape slightly unscathed.

There are countless classic scenes in "The Terminator." You will see them spoofed your entire life. From the image of the Terminator, to the lines they speak, to the scenes they act out. Everything is spoofed. And the film is worthy of its fame.

On the special edition "T2" DVD (the second one), there is an on-set documentary for the making of the "Terminator 2" 3-D ride at Universal Studios. As the camera moves around, it shows Cameron detailing what he wants in this scene. Some guy suggests something else, and Cameron gets a tone. "No, no, that won't work. You do it like this - we come off here, he walks around..." etc. The point is, he's a perfectionist, and a demanding director. Some directors are a bit too easy, and don't really care where their films are going. But James Cameron seems to have a clear vision of what he wants, and he goes around making sure it gets done exactly the way he wants it to be done. And it shows in his work. It's hard to find any mistakes in a James Cameron film. And it's even harder to find plot holes.

Some people say "Terminator 2 - Judgment Day" is better than the original. It's hard to choose, because the two films are very different. I view "The Terminator" as more of a deep, intellectually-consuming, dark thriller. I view "Judgment Day" as an action film, with a more or less recycled plot. (The plot is still good, but it's still the same, too.) It's hard to choose a favorite because they are so different. On "T2" the budget is ten times larger, probably even more than that. But if you want a horror/thriller, "The Terminator" is better for you. If you want special-effects and a really fun time, see "T2." They're both excellent films.

"The Terminator" is a great movie. It is one of my favorites; it is terrifying, horrifying, and 100 % entertaining. And unlike a lot of other cheap actioners out there, "The Terminator" has some thought put into its plot, and that is what separates it from the rest of its kind.

There are actors,and there are movie stars.Arnold Schwarzenegger is without question a movie star,because every time he is on screen, he is,well,Arnold.There is a different Arnold in this film,and this is what I like about it.He,for once,is playing the villain,and to perfection,I might add.He makes for one of the best screen villains ever in cinema history.It's a pity that his "good guy" image won't allow him to play the bad seed more often,but that's Hollywood, I guess.Aside from the thrilling sequel,this is perhaps Arnold's best work.
