Great movie. It's not the most realistic movie made, but who cares!

I enjoyed watching this film again with the perspective of it not only being made 30 plus years ago, but also having lived during the ending of the Viet Nam era. When America's youth were going through such revolutionary times in its culture and politics. Those soldiers who came home were hated and forgotten. But Pearl Harbor on the other hand was a time when America all came together as a people and nation. So to see this idea of a modern ship going back to try and help, only to end up with the twist, not in the way Americans watching it wanted to feel, was very provocative. We've come a long way now from believing in America to a really divided nation and world. But the film still speaks to one wishing to change events in history, even recent.3/5

Just an OK movie. I imagine the only people that will really make it to the end are F-14 Tomcat buffs and military types, though.

I have seen this movie several times and I believe that according to the story line, the aircraft carrier Nimitz didn't go back to stop the attack on Pearl Harbor, but to full fill its role in history which was to cause the death of Senator Samuel Chapman. Of course no one in 1941 knew that, so he was reported as just missing. As soon as Senator Chapman died, the time storm reappeared and Nimitz went back to the present because it wasn't needed in 1941 any more. Interesting idea that you can't go back and change history, but only play your role in it. Very good time travel movie. 5/5

If I was going to travel through time; in an aircraft carrier would be the way to do it! I love the premise of the film and the 'full circle' element of time travel. It was a bit of a celebration of the US Navy but good acting and and a great "what if" story. ****
