I like this movie for a few reasons. One is because it goes out the box. Two it makes you think and try to figure out what the hell is going on. Three it shows you something real. I don't totally understand the whole cat things, but I guess it's to show how desperate they really are. Life is not glitter a gold and for all of you that have that or think that, need to watch this movie. Oh yeah, and it had some good music in it at times.

From the guy who brought you "KIDS", another film about fucked-up youth- only this time instead of inner-city New York, it takes place in some rural 1980's Ohio town that a tornado has ripped through. Gummo however is non-linear with some very bizarre scenes (far off from any traditional 3-act film). Also, this has a documentary feel during some of the parts where the actors/actresses speak directly to the camera. I think what was the most intriguing thing for me was the acting, I mean some of these people appear to actually be disabled. Some may find this difficult to watch and disturbing, but if you can stomach it...I would strongly recommend watching Gummo at least once.

Hummm. Here is my sum up. This sucked big ol cat balls at a chinese take out... Ha ha. Seriously, I watched this because it was supposed to be one of the most disturbing movies of all time.... The cat stuff was sick, and dude eating in the tub was sick, but other than that, nada. Boring! Small town folk, with no money and little education. That sums it up:)

this film is just weird did not realy like, i think this film is way overated, altho there is some twisted parts that did not do it for me either thumbs down

Not as disturbing as people are making it out to be...i mean, a little nudity and maybe one scene or so that could make you feel uncomfortable. I did like the soundtrack and how real the movie feels. The only thing I did not like was that the plot was unclear. But the acting makes up for it. The movie seems like an unfinished documentary. 7/10

Original!!!! Not for the easily disturbed and definitely not for children. Chloe Sevigny has played off beat parts but this one takes the cake. Unfortunately there are places in the U.S. that resemble whats in this film. Poverty stricken and written off. Thats our government for ya!

Lol I respectfully disagree, although of course there are people who act like this. I think it has more to do with modern human dysfunction. It was smart of the director to set the film in xenia, ohio (Although its not filmed there) because it really was hit hard by a tornado.

As a resident of Ohio, please do not assume this is how things are, lol. People do not just walk around acting like that haha. Great film though, gross and wrong lol. Avoid unless you know you can stomach it 8/10

ok flick, got lost in some places and bored in others, sort of tarantino meets mr bean meets indie meets roadkill, you dont really want to watch but you cant help it. i enjoyed the off beatness of it though...kept me guessing 6/10

this movie reminds me of what it was like when i moved from Chicago Illinois to Florida...When i first saw this movie i was too wasted to understand what i actually saw so i started it over again immediately and watched it again...now that i live in this world it doesn't surprise me as much but when i was living in the city i was taken back to say the least...i do love this movie for it's weirdness...i hope you do too...8/10 enjoy humans!!!

Well I wish I could rate this, I got past the halfway mark, but my wife came in the room and I shut it off like I was watching really gross porn (she wouldnt understand either the porn or this movie, and both shame me) but from what I saw theres really no plot at all to the movie, and contrary to what most posters on here are writing its not *beautiful*, *gross*, *creepy* or *good*, you could have gotten the same results if you gave a kid in the Bayou some cement glue, a bag of skittles and a handheld camera, really weird movie, Im not even gonna rate it..

The movie goes far beyond your everyday "nihilism" as suggested by the description, and spills into the realm of midwest American psychosis.

I gotta say this movie creeped me out. I honestly believed these were real people and Harmony just basically bought them meth and beer and let the cameras do the rest. So, with regard to the fact that my disbelief was fully suspended the entire time, it was an excellent movie.

Kind of disturbing but artistic in a trashy way. Are these real people? 4/5

Interesting watch for those who enjoyed sick twisted movie but more aim in a satire of characters that do exist in american society realism in a surreal way, it quite distasteful just a warning but yet a good watch for people who like to watch things that are quirky rate this one a 8/10 .

This isn't a movie, it's a film. Harmony is a great directer, he's a genius with magical ideas.

I remember watching this in high school. That part with the chair is funny and messed up. 3 - 5 stars.
