(stagevu) Great Quality!! I liked this movie alot. i mean don't we all wish this could happen to us once in our life. I know I do. 8/10 for me. I thought they could of did a little better though I did feel it was a bit rushed. I love all the body switch movies and I don't think I would ever get tired of them. Thats one dream of everyones, but unfortunately won't come true. Great for the personal collection. A must watch. Enjoy!!!

Borrowing its central conceit from the similarly-themed but far superior Tom Hanks-starrer Big, this week's 17 Again stars Zac Efron as Mike O'Donnell, a high-school basketball star who gives up a college sports scholarship in order to marry his pregnant girlfriend.

Fast forward to 20 years later and Mike has matured, rather unconvincingly, into Matthew Perry. This older Mike is not a happy fellow. His wife is divorcing him, his kids don't hide their contempt for him, and he just lost a job promotion. Can you really blame him for wishing he could return to his glorious youth and do things differently?

The body swap formula is an old one in Hollywood and when it's done smartly it works. This film however decides to put a spin on the old recipe. So while Mike does get a chance to turn 17 again and go back to high school, he doesn't actually travel back 20 years into his past, he becomes himself trapped inside his own 17-year-old body and it's all happening in the now. So he's got the same problems, the same wife, the same kids. Just that he's 17 and he looks gorgeous again.

This premise allows for a bunch of juvenile jokes including one particularly sick one involving his own daughter hitting on him. Some of the best laughs in this film are provided by the character playing Mike's best friend, the nerdy Star Wars-obsessed Ned who agrees to go along as his dad to have him admitted into high school, and ends up falling for the headmistress.

17 Again relies squarely on the charm of its lead star Zac Efron who has a likeable presence, but isn't such a good actor that he can make mediocre material like this work. Still I suspect it'll be a thumbs-up from his fan base of pre-pubescent girls who've lapped up all those High School Musical movies.

For my part I'm going with two out of five and an average rating for 17 Again. It's an easy watch if you have nothing better to do.

A family oriented movie.
Very inspiring. How i wish i could have a second chance to redo my life. Well, since we dont have to get that chance, the most essential thing to do is to make the best out of what we have.
I learned a lesson from this movie. We need to appreciate life and the people around us!

I loved this movie and its concept. The film is based on a guy who turned down his chance at a basketball schloarship to marry his pregnant high school love. 20yrs later the copule is getting divorce because the husband, Mike, began blaming his misfortune for the way his life turned out on his wife. Now given a chance to be 17 again he is faced with the same situation to remind him of what truly is important in his life.

This is another movie I watched with my friend who works at a movie theatre. With elements of Big and 13 Going on 30, not to mention It's a Wonderful Life and Back to the Future, 17 Again is a pretty enjoyable meshing of those movies considering the cast which has Zac Efron, Michelle Trachtenberg, Leslie Mann, Margaret Cho, Thomas Lennon, and Melora Hardin. I also recognized Matthew Perry and Nicole Sullivan. I did not realize until the cast credits that the bearded janitor at the high school was Brian Doyle-Murray, Bill's brother. Now, parts of the plot and characterizations were a little uneven but despite that there were plenty of scenes that were hilarious especially those between Lennon and Hardin. With them, I also saw a little "Big Bang Theory" vibe. Oh, and there's a little touching pro-abstinence speech here as well (though it still is acknowledged that not all teens will feel that way). All in all, despite some adult humor, 17 Again was an enjoyable comedy that should be enjoyable enough for parents and offspring alike. Oh, and one more thing: I thought the Vanilla Ice reference in the 1989 sequence didn't fit since I remember him not even emerging until the following year...
