Fight Club is a fantastic story that anyone could make a connection with. Dealing with everyday life, allowing your routine day to bottle over and make you feel trapped. Imagining that you are someone else or how you should look and act to cope. Building an illusion to satisfy your needs when really the problem you need to address is right before you. You can also just take it as the buzz of anarchy in freeing up stress by going on a rampage and getting in a fight. Or the rush of a challenge by getting into a fight and losing. Excellent film with excellent twists and turns. A must watch

I can remember being completely blown away by ‘Fight Club’ the first time I saw it. It’s not the film it’s billed as – if it was, it would boil down to little more than nigh-on two-and-a-half hours of Brad Pitt and Edward Norton beating the living snot out of each other. That’s not to say it has nothing to do with fighting. Hell, I struggle to think of ANY movie that depicts underground bare-knuckle punch-ups quite as graphically as this one (and yes, that includes ‘Every Which Way But Loose’). But it’s also about much, much more than that.

Norton – whose character’s name is kept from us for reasons that don’t become apparent until the climax – plays a seemingly average everyday schmo whose materialistic love of all things Ikea can’t cover-up for the fact that a gaping chasm exists in his life. Slightly weirdly, his only pleasure comes from regular visits to various touchy-feely support groups (where he meets, among others, a bitch-titted Meat Loaf). But it’s only when he meets the rugged and confident Tyler Durden (Pitt) that his life suddenly begins to take on a sense of purpose.

Before long the pair are squatting in the same dilapidated mansion and, more importantly, have caused something of a stir among the local male population with their formation of the club of the title. Blokes come from miles around to join in the man-on-man batterings, and it starts to look like our two lead characters have built themselves something of an army.

Performance-wise, this represents the highlight of Pitt’s career, and is the film that finally saw him arrive as a “proper” actor, rather than just a pretty boy fancied by all the girlies. Norton, of course, is always terrific, and has a couple of fantastic darkly-comical scenes in which it’s himself he’s beating up – which really doesn’t look all that easy.

This is a tremendous story (adapted from the novel by Chuck Palahniuk) with a cracking twist and some masterful direction from Se7en and ‘The Game’ helmsman David Fincher. He strikes a good balance between bringing his own distinct style to the screen and maintaining the primary importance of the plot, and also keeps things moving at pace all the way through with the result that it feels considerably shorter than it actually is.

If there’s a weak point, it’s probably that there’s just no way this stuff could actually happen in the real world in which it’s supposed to be set. How many of us would really volunteer to join a club where you arrive home every night looking like a Premiership footballer’s missus? And, indeed, how many of us would allow ourselves to be brain-washed so easily by that club’s leader? Are we REALY supposed to believe no dissenters exist?

But those are minor quibbles on a movie that seems destined to be looked back upon as one of the best of the 90s. Having now watched it several times since that first viewing, I’ve come to appreciate just how much depth there is to the whole thing, and reckon I could still do with catching it a few more times in order to truly appreciate it. If you haven’t seen it yet, you’ve got a lot of catching up to do.

To briefly summarize the movie Fight Club, the protagonist (played by Ed Norton) is an isolated, lonely office employee, using his time compulsively hunting through catalogs, and decorating “the perfect apartment”.
Suffering from chronic insomnia, Norton’s character “Jack” (as most people refer to him) begins attending different disease support groups, where he meets a neurotic and cynical young woman, Marla Singer (Helena Bonham Carter), who is a “disease pretender” like Jack is.
Next, while traveling on business, he meets the film’s antagonist, Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt), an antisocial and articulate soap salesman. Soon Jack’s lovely apartment mysteriously blows up and Jack and Tyler become fast friends. Living rent-free, or “squatting”, in a filthy, condemned old house, the pair soon form an underground club, complete with Tyler’s rules, so that hundreds of aggressive young men can vent their frustrations in violent fist-fighting. But when Fight Club suddenly starts a cross-country expansion at Tyler’s doing, Jack is forced to open his eyes to the “real Tyler Durden”, and Jack makes a shockingly monumental discovery…(DON"T SWEAT IT - NOBODY HERE IS GOING TO SPOIL THE SURPRISE!:)
At its heart, I want to believe Fight Club is about living the life you wish you had the courage to live, and the hard road to getting there. Tyler helps Jack down that hard road, all the way to enlightenment. Good or bad, it’s like the man said, “You have to know the answer to this question! If you died right now, how would you feel about your life?”

GOOD MOVIE. THIS MOVIE ACTION MOVIE WITH LOTS OF ADVENTURE IN IT. ITS A PERFECT MOVIE. BEST ONE.THE MOVIE STARTING AND THE ENDING IS BEST. THE ACTOR ON THIS MOVIE ARE GOOD AND THE ACTING IS GOOD. IN MY VIEW THIS MOVIE ISTHE BEST ONE EVER MADE. I LIKE IT A LOT.

I am, unfortunately, not one of the faithful Chuck Palahniuk readers who had read the book BEFORE they saw the movie. I, however, couldn't wait to read the book after seeing this film. I've read the book 5 times since and seen the movie more times than I can remember.

Simply put, this movie changed my life. Not just on a personal level (on which I will not comment here except to say I'm now a major Palahniuk fan) but also as a movie-watcher. I view movies differently after seeing this movie, because it broke down doors.

This movie is literally the first time I ever came upon something that, at first sight seemed incredibly stylish, sophisticated and entertaining. The plot lured you in before turning you upside down, the acting was nothing short of perfect (has there ever been a more memorable character than Brad Pitt as Tyler Durden?), the music, the screenplay (based on what is now my all-time favorite book), the lighting, the pacing, the everything! Virtually everything about this movie took my by surprise, save for one man.

David Fincher, director, was probably the only reason I went to see this movie in the first place. His work on 'Seven' and 'The Game' had me excited to see what he would do next, but I came to this movie expecting a stylish flick that offered a good plot and hopefully some good acting but what I got was so much, much more.

Honestly, how many times have you seen a movie that, with every viewing, gets even more complicated yet so simple that you can't help but laugh. Every time I watch this movie I notice something new about it, such is the depth of what is on the screen. Then there's the tiny issue of the story of Fight Club, penned by Chuck Palahniuk (who has one of the most fertile imaginations around. Don't believe me? Read 'Survivor' and weep!) the story is nothing short of incredible, a pure shock-value social commentary on the state of the world at the end of the century. You'll cry, you'll laugh, you'll do all the clichés but most importantly you'll identify with every single thing on the screen.

This movie rates as one of my all-time favorite movies and, simply put, if you haven't seen it yet then quit wasting your time OnLine and get to the nearest videostore!

Fight Club: An office employee struggling with insomnia finds himself in an unpredictable dilemma when he meets an unusual but classy man on a plane. They later become allies and build a global organization to vent testosterone through fighting. As their journey deepens, the office employee discovers something not so pleasant.

This film is current and relevant as it explores the trauma felt by men who have no purpose in this world, and so will instantly connect with the audience of young males. Also, the twist near the end is one so unique and obvious you kick yourself for not noticing it before.

This movie, in my opinion, is David Fincher's finest. It's even better than "Seven" or "The Social Network."

Fight Club explores the concept of anarchy. Disobeying society's rules, doing what you want, and it is portrayed through the eyes of a nihilistic insomniac. Edward Norton is incredible, as is Brad Pitt. Helen Bonham Carter also makes a fantastic impression on viewers as lovers of... Brad Pitt's character.

Overall classic. Overall masterpiece. 5 of 5.

Fight Club is a brash slap in the face of consumerism and the working dead. It questions reality. It is strikingly thought provoking and visually stimulating. The direction is incredibly brilliant. Director David Fincher (Aliens, Se7en and The Game) is at his finest here warping both space and time, dropping in things here and there to make things clear. Edward Norton is excellent as Jack, the narrator of the movie. He is a nerdy insomniac who catalog shops at Ikea and has a going nowhere job. Brad Pitt is dynamic as Tyler Durden, an anarchistic man who lives in a run-down abandoned house and makes and sells soap for a living. Helen Bonham Carter is also great as Marla Singer, the manic-depressive chain-smoking woman in both their lives. Her role is critical and she plays it well.

There has been some controversy about the violence in this film but it is not gratuitous violence, it is part of the story and serves it well. It is much less than what you would see in your average Hollywood blockbuster. This is actually an insightful film and in many ways similar to American Beauty, although this film is much more in your face about it's message. If you are squeamish, you may not want to see it. There are some very painful bloody scenes, but if you can stomach it, then check it out. There is also a huge twist in this film that almost rivals the twist at the end of The Sixth Sense. And I must admit, it is the twist in this film that made me really love it. The best audience for this film is men in their 20's or 30's, but anyone that can appreciate film as a modern art should like it. One of the best films of 1999.

Judge Report #015 One of the most intresting,sofisticated and brutal movie i have ever seen.I wached this a few years back and still today i can sit and go through the hole movie with out geting tired.Also Fight Club has,if not the best,one of the best twists you will find in the movie industry today and believe me when i say...Its great.Edwart Nordon and Brand Pit had an outstanding performance on this one.I rate this movie 100/100 and its actualy my first perfect score on this web site.To finish this comment please when you finish the movie stop and thing all the lines Tyler said and you will find a great meaning to them than what you got on your first view.Also in the very end of the movie you will see some form of distortion just try to pause the film there and tell me what you see ;D.And the funy thing is there a lot more of this type of things in Fight Club and i am prety sure i have found them all. I didn't hear much about Fight Club until I watched it. When I did it suddenly no doubt became one of my all favorite, after reading this I went out and brought the book written by Chuck Palahniuk. It's a truly amazing film, everything is so well done. The acting was simply amazing, the whole cast did great, especially Brad Pitt and Edward Norton. This movie will have to be both their best movies.

this is one of my favourite movies! Brad Pitt as tyler Durden couldn't have been acted better and the same as Ed norton playing the insomniac who is obsessed by other peoples illnesses and problems! Great acting, Great ENDING (real shocker) and overall a Brilliant movie! a definite must see!!!
