This movie was pretty good. A bit depressing at times, but it's worth at least a watch. Tom Hiddleston's performance is amazing. Great emotion, great character portrayals. I'd give it a 8/10.

I thought this was a shark movie... i was very wrong

I didn't know what to expect,but I thoroughly enjoyed this film.It's a film you may need to see again sometime.You can always judge how interested you are by the number of times you look at the timer to see how long the thing's got to go.I only looked once,or maybe twice.

good movie with good acting

I usually really like Rachel Weisz, and she's been in some excellent films of late ( The Whistleblower, Agora, etc) but here she is working with some rather stilted dialogue. It doesn't help either that the story keeps shifting time through flashbacks, making things a little confusing at times. The plot centers on Hester and Freddie, she a judge's wife, he a Royal Air Force pilot. Hester is in a loveless marriage and meets Freddie and falls madly for him. Freddie seems exactly what she needs, someone exciting, dashing, charming and adventerous. Freddie is all those things, but he can also be cold and emotionally distant at times, and after the war ends he is listless, unemployed and drinks a tad too much. Freddie doesn't like women who 'cling' to him either. Unfortunately, we don't learn enough about Hester or Freddie to care about why they do what they do (especially Hester, the source of whose meloncholia is never fully explained). The story ultimately goes nowhere. A very slow-paced film that is merely a slice of time in the life of an unfaithful wife. Since The Deep Blue Sea only takes place in three locations, and there is more dialogue than action, it has that 'stage play' feel. Finally, a minor quibble: Rachel Weisz's accent doesn't seem to mesh with, and isn't as posh as the other male characters, who it would appear are all upper class British gentlemen speaking the Queen's English. I think her character is supposed to be from the same class, but not certain. Anyway, I was dissapointed and can only give this movie 4/10.

Um the shark movie is called 'Deep Blue Sea' not THE Deep Blue Sea. Read the summary you morons. Sowwy, i don't find unfuny retarded jokes funny. :)
