Fingersmith: Susan "Sue" Trinder is a fingersmith (British slang for thief) who lives in the slums of London with a baby farmer (person who looks after unwanted babies) Mrs.Sucksby. When a once rich man, who gambled all his money away, presents them with a scam that has a payout of 40,000 pounds, Sue signs on to swindle rich Maud Lilly. Maud is an orphan who lives with her uncle, but what exactly is going on in the Lilly house? Sue will pose as Maud's maid so that Mr.Rivers (the gentleman) can get close to and eventually marry her. Their plan is to put Maud in the madhouse and take the money for themselves. All goes astray though when Sue falls in love with Maud. And the question is: Who can you trust? |

Amazing film. The script stays very true to the original novel and the acting is well done all around. The lead actresses, Sally Hawkins and Elaine Cassidy, were especially good-- their chemistry was palpable and their portrayals were true to the characters. Overall, very memorable. I think it's safe to say this is one of the best lesbian films out there.

i loved this movie, it was absolutely amazing and entertaining every step of the way. i dont believe ive ever watched a movie thats made me want to read the book so badly and thank the stars there is a book because the movie just leaves you wanting more.

Charles Dickens has nothing on this story. A love story with more twists and turns in it than a Barber's Pole. Absolutely fabulous!

Fantastic! Very well written and very well acted. I can see some confusion from the write ups......To clear it up.....The first part you need to click on whichever 'version' you choose. For the second part, simply click on 'part 2' next to the word 'version'...Simples! Enjoy 5/5 By the way, if its lesbian nudity your after, it is not within this film.

I was impressed. At first I was thinking "oh boy, another film with lesbianism as a premise", but it was actually far more substance and palatable.

wow, that really blew me away.. I never saw part 1 coming.. This movie has so many twists and turns that I love.This is a must see, so see it.. 10/10

This was such a great movie I couldn't believe all the twists, just as soon as you think you have uncovered one, BAM! another is revealed. @ douglaspicy.... I couldn't find a 2nd part but I did find the rest of it on youtube in 18 parts, but they are only 10 minutes a piece so it's not as long as it may seem. It is definitely worth the watch. Great acting, well written and if you like period films, you will most def like this. WOW hard to believe people way back when could be so deceitful!!

It has so many surprises along the way. I highly recommend it. The depth of its story line is one that will stir the inner most emotions of love, and hate, with some very interesting twists.
