This movie is definately for the kids. It was a cute movie but predictable. It had some action in it which is always good. On a scale of 1-10, I'd give it a 6. I don't know if it is my computer but I barely got a good look at what the alien looked like. The children will like this movie though.

I missed this in the theaters and took this opportunity to start using "Let Me Watch This" to watch my first movie. I downloaded and hooked the movie into the TV from computer and was prepared to have a great movie night with the family!

My 6 year old son was never captivated like he was when he watched ET a week ago. I was not impressed at all with the storyline. Characters were fine but the plot and overall cinematics were just OK. Most of the movie was just cliche, a departure from any other Spielberg movie.

Go ahead and watch to say you've seen it, but this movie may be better enjoyed in a theater on the big screen. This one failed to deliver on my 70". I give Super 8 a Super 5 out of 10!

Wouldn't recommend it, the storyline is iffy and the film seems to drag on for eternity. They probably could have cutting this down into a 1 hour 20 min film instead of a 2 hour one. Low Special Effects on Undead thing, as you only really get to see the whole thing near the end of the film.

Ratings:
Acting: 6/10 - This was good at times such as the crash, but seemed to get worse throughout the film.
Storyline: A generous 7/10 - Hard to follow at times.
Special Effects: 4/10 - Not good at all since it's based around the undead thingy.
Action-Packed: 5/10 - Not enough action for me it's all to predictable.

Generally a non-scary "scary" movie if that makes sense. I would say that this film is aimed at the 8-12 year old market as doesn't contain enough action to keep a teenager or adult interested. I think that a 8-12 year old would want to watch this as they feel like they are one of the characters then and are around the same age as the Cast in the movie.

the point that the movie's main characters was kids and it took place in the 70s takes away from it..It really didnt have a sci fi feel or an alien movie feel. It was more of a lil kid detective movie or somthin like that. it was cool how the kids were trying to make an movie and the fat kid, the director wasnt so persistent about getting the great shot, but if u over 14 or u dnt have a 14 year old brain you prolly wont like this

I liked this movie I saw it in theaters tonight and it was pretty good. The story line was simple but still yet good and interesting at the same. I really enjoyed watching the kids in this film they were cool and funny. The film has a few jumpy moments but it keeps you interested, entertained and curious until the end.

Super 8 was written by J.J. Abrams .. although you see that Steven Spielberg feel to the adventurous Stand By Me-esc movie, this movie made me emotional and feel for every character. I couldn't stop watching the moment I started - the beginning is rather melancholy, but for great purpose. I just wanted to see where it was going and I did... I loved it. The plot was solid and even though it felt like a more rambunctious version of E.T. - the movie had great adventure and amazing young actors! The girl who plays Alice was really good!

The movie is great it has a good story line and can be better but the only thing wrong with the movie would be how the mother died!Maybe I wasn't listing or something but I didn't hear it!! The quality of the movie wasn't that good but it can be fixed!!

yes, finally i watched one of my most awaited movie of the year. i was so curious and anticipated to watch it and i did today, with cloudy lovable weather when i saw this movie i came out feeling so good. it brought back the memories of those old classic movies like E.T and Close Encounters and many others. i wish in this modern world more and more Good Old Fashioned movies about old times should be made. this movie was just pure lovable. it may not be a complete classic memorable film for generations like them but still its a fun and entertaining movie to watch with your friends on a lovely weekend afternoon you will come out loving it, you may wanna watch it again too. this is one of the very few movies so far that made me stick and involve throughout the movie from very start to the very end.it is not a movie with much action scenes but its not boring at all.

i remember its first look and the mystery it had and then waiting for it. finally i saw it. Produced by the genius classics maker director Steven Spielberg and Directed by J.J Abrams. his last movies were Mission Impossible 3 and Star Trek along with his produced movies and TV series. this movie was in trusting hands and i must say he proved that. i exactly loved the way this movie was. good direction. screenplay was good too, nicely written its somewhat flawless. story is really fresh though it felt a bit weak in this movie to be honest. plot was good but not best or excellent. Excellent cinematography and art direction. good Visual Effects and action sequences like that train crash or few throughout the middle and the ending ofcourse. i liked them as there weren't many and they weren't overdone. beautifully filmed movie it is.

the children in the movie were so lovable, i loved them. main guy is Joel Courtney as Joe, the main gal is the beautiful Elle Fanning as Alice. i really liked their performances. Joel has the ability to carry off the movie on his own shoulders to be honest. i loved their cute little romance in it. other actors are Kyle Chandler, Noah Emmerich, Ron Eldard, Gabriel Basso , Amanda Michalka , Katie Lowes , Jessica Tuck and others.

you will see that alien/monster thing in the end, the mystery is there throughout the movie. i love movies like this. one more thing that I WANTED TO RATE IT 4 STARS BUT I ENDED UP RATING IT 4.5, SO THE .5 EXTRA STAR IS FOR THE ENDING ALONE. oh man the ending was memorable for me, don't know about you guys. i loved the background music during that scene (throughout too) but specially during that scene, don't wanna spoil much but it reminded me of E.T the whole emotion was there and it ended up in TEARS for me. wow i felt really heavy during it. i must be honest you don't get attached to the alien here as you did with E.T since you don't see him much and all but it was Joe's character that brought tears into my eyes. classic ending it was.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, go see it guys. you will love it.

No matter how many people tell me how the movie is the worst movie, or a very boring, barely able to see, time wasting movie, I have to say i agree, with the ones who describe it as, mind blowing, fascinating, heart pumping, and has you at the edge of your seat kind of movie. One of the best movies I have ever watched. 10/10
