Great movie! Has a deep, enriching plot and lots of laughs that will keep you entertained. I, apparently, had been living under a rock and hadnt seen the previews at all so I was pleasantly surprised with all the familiar faces that kept popping up. I took away one star because it did have its slower moments, but, to be fair, it always picked back up and it never strayed from its central theme. One thing I loved was the absence of vulgarity! Thats a beautiful thing to see in a black comedy. We can never have too many of these films! It does have one or two scenes that may be deemed slightly inappropriate for younger people, so be aware of that. Overall, the movie was worth that ridiculously high ticket price. Whether you go see it in theaters or wait for the DVD, this is a good POSITIVE movie to support! :)

Sweet, funny and Star packed. Mike Epps best performance thus far, Loretta Devine was excellent, and as always the lovely and brilliant Angela Basset gave a very great performance. I would recommend this movie for anyone wanting to see a light, warm hearted and frank comedy on life, love and relationships. All actors/actresses contributed to making this one of the best African-American films that will be remembered.

Jumping the Broom was one of the best Romantic, Comedies of the year. There were so many emotional moments; love, support, happiness, sadness, but not too much to where it would have scared away the men. It would be a great movie to watch for movie night and a great addition to the "Favorites" list. I would recommend this movie to even the most horrible movie critic.

I am so proud that this movie was made, and will be at least a tribute to how far African Americans have come in this society. Star power, classic moments and some catchy dialogue, highlight this movie, about a black couple that dates for 6 or so months and decide to tie the knot. One of the best moments ever is when the brides aunt sings Sexual Healing at the pre-wedding dinner. The cast is realistic, fetching and comical. the seriousness of this film is handled extremely well, and the whole feel is that of familiarity. This idea has been done before, and all aspects of this film has been approached in many venues, styles and dramas. But this one stands alone, the audience falls in love with the engaged couple, the grooms family and friends and the brides family and friends.Anyone would feel like jumping the broom after watching this movie, but first they will have to take the broom and sweep up all the mess and skeletons in the closet.

I began watching this movie with extreme anticipation because so many hilarious actors were in this movie and so many of my favourite people but as I watch this movie I must say that:

The wedding planner is crazy, wack or I just don't know.

Her mother, Angela really needed to get that broom out of her hip and his mother, played by Loretta really was a hot mess to want her son for herself.

What was up with Loretta prayer at the dinner table. That whole dinner was a hot mess except for the Sexual Healing. Imean everyone life falling apart in this movie.

Romeo was all up on old girl in this movie I mean he really wanted her.

Review for Jumping the broom

Sumary: ** Spoiler Alert **

Put the kettle on and pour your self a cup of tea darling, because this movie is one for watching after a hard days work in the office and when you come home exausted you just want to kick off your shoes and relax.

Whilst the movie is a comedy, it is a light hearted comedy with a strong focus around drama.

You have 2 families with opposite lifestyles however this is not the main issue of the movie, The main problem is Pam Taylor (played by Loretta Devine) who is grooms mother (Jason Taylor played by Laz Alonso)

She is a single mother who comes across as insecure and worried of loosing her son, the only person left she feels close to, in this process she sets out from the start as being very defensive against the bride Sabrina Watson-Taylor (played by Paula Patton) and her family.

In the process we as the audience learn Sabrina is adopted by her mothers sister known just as (Aunt Geneva), this is discovered after a dinner argument between both the bride and grooms mothers argue at the dinner table over the family traddition of "jumping the broom", a traddition to symbolise a union when slaves were forbidden from marriage.

Whilst outside Jasons mother seens Sabrinas mother arguing with her sister Geneva and learns about the adoption

Jasons mother uses this information to sabotage the wedding
Destroying the family atmosphere and party spirit

Clearly Sabrina is heart broken by the news of learning her aunt was really her mother and feeling like she no longer knows who she is or her background / routes she calls off the wedding

Jason confront his mother and states the reason she had not meet sabrina until the last minute was as a result of her ways of smuthering him and acting defensive against previous girl friends he has had.

Jason then sweeps in to the rescue saying whilst she doesnt know who she is right now, he does and lists the reasons he loves her.

Jasons mother comes over guilt and appologises to Sabrina for acting selfish, the wedding finally goes ahead.

Review: Watchable

Whilst there was comedy elements this movie is definatly no "death at a funeral" and therefore some what dissapointing as it came across more comedy than drama in the trailer.

Still wouldnt say its not a good movie as the storyline is good just have to be in a more relaxed mood to want to watch it over other comedies.

Ideal for the more mature minded audience who may enjoy relaxing infront of the TV at night.

No acting was most definatly believable and good performance, did not make the movie come across as cheap or low budget.
