Watch Planet of the Apes: Taylor and two other astronauts come out of deep hibernation to find that their ship has crashed. Escaping with little more than clothes they find that they have landed on a planet where men are pre-lingual and uncivilized while apes have learned speech and technology. Taylor is captured and taken to the city of the apes after damaging his throat so that he is silent and cannot communicate with the apes. |

Classic sci-fi movies are awesome.

The "reimagineered" version in 2001 was crap! This original is still one of the best sci-fi films ever made, and the 2nd one Beneath The Planet Of The Apes wasn't bad either!

Great movie. So much better than the remake. This one was soooo good, the acting was great. It was extremely entertaining. The ending was really surprising. This is definety worth watching.

Because that would be pointless. The Planet movies were made to show a mirror image of what racism looked like, aswell as showing the destructive nature of society's. Evolution would have ruined it all, lets got get preachy.

I completely agree with chatpilot, it's quite thought provocative, but what an excellent idea of a sci-fi movie giving birth to the endless series and remakes! They don't do movies like these anymore, where they really like to questionize and make you take a stand and make parallels. It's the first time i've seen it, and this is by far the best one, 'Rise' is cool too though 9/10

Its a madhouse,a madhouse,a madhouse!!!!!!!! Is there really anything else to be said about this classic Sci/Fi Masterpiece? Richard matheson and Charlton Heston all rolled into ONE!The First of Five Movies and a shortlived T.V.series with a saturdaymorning cartoon anime(american) that followed...Hopefully Tim Burton will follow up his version with a sequel starring hometown hero,Johnny Depp, from the bluegrass state....

Awesome Movie. Just watched it for the first time. Too bad The Simpsons spoiled the Ending for me. :P I still think the Novel was inspired by H.G. Wells: The Time Machine though.

What I don't understand is how come it is not once mentioned in any of the ape movies that it is man who has evolved from apes and not the other way around!

Planet of the Apes is a classic very well acted film 5/5. First saw them at the drive-in when they were released and am very happy to find almost all of them on this site. Thank you :)

I thoroughly enjoyed this film! It brought to the forefront the ongoing debate between science and religion. Other underlying themes were those on slavery and mans inhumanity to man as demonstrated through the apes treatment of humans. Also highlighted was man superiority complex reflected through the apes classification of them being the highest rung on the evolutionary ladder. It is worth a watch particularly with these and other social issues in mind.

With all due respect, I keep 'Planet of the Apes' filed under 'Big, Dumb Fun.' After a certain number of viewings the larger, philosophical issues of humankind's use of nuclear weapons became overshadowed by the sheer, campy joy of watching a well made movie.

WOW, this is a older movie, didn't realize this movie was like 44 years old even though I've watched it before. They did a great job, never did like the way it ended though.
