Creation: What happens when a world-renowned scientist, crushed by the loss of his eldest daughter, formulates a theory in conflict with religious dogma? This is the story of Charles Darwin and his master-work "The Origin of Species". It tells of a global revolution played out the confines of a small English village; a passionate marriage torn apart by the most dangerous idea in history; and a theory saved from extinction by the logic of a child.

Interesting movie, worth watching, although a bit slow. Very good cast, very good acting.. I really like period movies so this was nice. Needed just a bit more action as it is a bit flat, but all in all good entertainement nonetheless. 6.5/10

I loved this film. Although it is only loosely based on fact it presents Charles Darwin as a loving husband and father first, filled with doubts and contradictions. So often historical figures are portrayed as infallible and godly. Loved the film, would watch again 5/5

as with every film based on a life, things are altered for the flow of the movie, so to the disapointed folks- it never said it's a biography. it is loosely based on Darwin's life. not fictionalized, but somewhat distorted truths. 3/5

A poignant story of Charles Darwin's coming to write the Origin of the Species. From the perspective of his family life and intimacies with his wife and children, we find a scientist struggling with and coming to terms with how life evolved on Earth. After the publication of Wallace's ideas on natural selection, the loss of his cherished daughter Annie and newborn son Charlie, Darwin fell into a deep depression. A bit slow, but in keeping with the times. 4/5

first off the movie was very well done all though the sound is a little off, not by much but just enough to notice; i'd give it a 7/10 ignoring the syncing problem of course. Next up, anyone trying to portray this as a documentary film is about as dumb as a mentally handicapped turkey, that's right, i just compared you to gobbles; this movie is about what lead him to write the origin of species not the standard linear time line complete with court records of speech transactions between his friends, family, and co-workers; second you cannot claim to be open minded while ignoring proof of theories that have been established and accepted by the scientific community for over 100 years while also ignoring recent scientific breakthroughs that reinforce said theories; your pastor is an idiot and so is the pretend P.H.D. at the christian community museum who has two n's in his university diploma that also spelled his name incorrectly.

I think a good job was done on this film. The actors were great! And the story kept me interested. I thought it would be about Charles Darwin's theory but it was more about a personal dilemma that was pretty justifiable. Overall I give it 8/10...Also, it's funny but I kept finding similarities between this movie and "A Beautiful Mind" lol - Same wife, invisible kid, smart man hallucinating....yea lol I will stop now, they are both good movies!

Very interesting account of the life and work of Charles Darwin, moreso, about his life and the experiences that led to the publication of the Origin of Species. I don't know how accurate this information is but find it interesting nevertheless. Btwn he was a great mind and the evidence that back up the theory of evolution is compelling but it isn't absolute. It's just a small additional piece of the big puzzle that we as a human species are putting together as we evolve and understand the universe more. Interesting depiction. 7.7/10

But Darwin was the Bill Gates of those days... he took the concept from someone else and made himself famous!! But movies are meant for entertainment, they're not documentaries. Worth a watch, I guess.

This was a really good film, Paul Bettany, Jennifer Connelly along with the other cast members did a great job. But I'm in contradiction to evolution and everyone has their opinions and reasoning and that's ok, but watching this and going through the theories of evolution, they all quench one another at a certain point and with good reasoning although it doesn't take good reasoning to see that the theories don't conjoine and not only that, they quench themselves.

The movie left me with the distinct impression that Charles Darwin suffered from schizophrenia. I researched it online & was only able to find a few people suggesting that MAYBE he suffered from the affliction, but no evidence actually stating there was any real proof if him having ever suffered from it. I know he did some ground breaking research of the subject that is essentially still be applied in practical treatment applications for schizophrenics till this day.

3/5 I like this movie, i did shout at the screen a few times, and I have differnt beliefs, I just like a different theory about what he went through, and what the times were like.

Well this was nothing like I thought it would be. I thought it would be showing Darwin on his adventures. Even though I don't believe in evolution I wanted to watch this film just to educate myself more on it and Darwin himself. Instead, I sat through almost 2 hours of a drama about his personal personal life not even having to do much with natural selection and all that and instead about his dead daughter and his mental issues which I don't even know what parts are true. If you are looking for a film with more about Darwin's scientific discoveries, look elsewhere, maybe in the "Documentary" section. But if you want a movie, well here is one for you about family issues. 2/5
