this was such an excellent film! life can be so unfair for some :(

I really appreciate Demián Bichir's acting in this coming of age film. It's hard for me to see folks talk down on the tough and relentless struggles of paisas en Califas, especially family, but attitudes can change when you step outside your box as this film will do for many viewers. 8/10

To think that most people(but for the native americans) living in the US are actually immigrants(or descendants from)and movies like this really only show the differences between the haves and the have nots...very painful indeed,especially when LA has been predominantly latino for years. Very well acted movie(deserved oscar nomination)...may be a little too sugary at the end,but still 4/5.

A movie to be remembered by the importance of its message, by the extraordinary acting of its main character Carlos Galindo, played by Damian Bichir. What an insightful and touching story of father and son and its life imposed sacrifices. There is a saying: great things come in small packages, after watching "A Better Life" you can proudly say: great virtues come with small persons in terms of social labeling. Give yourself a chance to see a great movie that can change your point of view about immigrants. "A Better Life" is a well made movie that certainly will find room in your brain as well as in your heart.

The film itself was amazing...touching, heartbreaking, interesting, and oddly complex. The only complaint I have is there is a serious need for subtitles for a few (pretty lengthy) scenes. Although you can use deductive reasoning to figure most scenes out, there are still a few that I felt I needed to understand to better comprehend the plot. 4/5

good movie, I thought it would be like a "Boys in The Hood" Mexican version, but it turned out better in its own way, definitely worth a watch, though I didnt understand everything said in Spanish youll get the gist of it, sorta =]

wonderfull movie! i liked the point of view of this film it shows the hardships that most immigrants go through in the search for a better way of life for them and their love ones,some idiots think people come here to cause problems only.i hate narrow racist minded people!

Great movie. Sad, touching and memorable. Terrific performances by the father and son. Good story, definately worth watching. The father is such a good man, all he wanted for his son and himself was a better life. You have to admire the resilient spirit of Carlos Galindo. I was impressed by his character and strength.
