Sumptuous period romance,another gem by Jane Campion,magnificent cinematography...5/5.

I'm sorry, but I personally found this to be a painfully dull watch. As much as I wanted to love this movie, I couldn't even bring myself to keep my eyes glued to the screen. The acting was, of course, top-knotch, because look who the actors were, and the dialogue was intelligent, indeed, but the general flow and setup of this film was a snore for me. It just seems to lack magic, and there seems to be something choppy and paceless about the execution of their romantic development. I've hardly been able to watch the entire segment without falling asleep or losing interest every single time; once I finally watched the whole film through--thinking maybe something was just tired in me on those days---I was still left feeling dull and unsatisfied. It doesn't have the charm of Pride and Prejudice, North and South, or etc when it comes to telling a story set in mundane circumstances; it's just a bare-headed film. Call it subtle if you wish, but I simply call it boring----or at least, extremely forgettable. I've seen better. You'll hate it or you'll love it.

very romantic movie . also sad but beautiful scenery . would watch again even tho sometimes its heart breaking to watch :)

This is such an amazing film. It's filled with such emotion: happiness, love, passion, sadness, grief. With beautiful directing and cinematography, it truly is a joy to watch (especially on a rainy Sunday afternoon).

Abbie Cornish is a great young actress and once I look forward to seeing as she takes on more film roles in the future. Jane Campion, a great director. Intellectual drama, great love story, sets, costumes, everything. 5/5 stars from me.

This is an awesome movie. Movie connected with love and patience. We can see 3 sides - Fanny as a designer, John as a poet and Fanny&John as one thing of two parts which we cant alienate from each other. This is a beautiful lovely movie about love, as I said - but this story is the beauties I've ever watched. Colourful, bright, colours made me feel calm and relax. I think that this movie should be watched by everyone, coz it is fabulous and of life.
