Really wonderful war movie. If you like war movies then this is worth seeing. It was very sad at some parts. Great acting. Well worth watching.

Definitely 1 of the best i hv watched. I hv always watched horror n action movies so watching tis felt so refreshing bt felt so heavy on my heat. Certain scenes were truly shocking,tense n sad. Terrence Malick sure knows hw 2 make a scene beautiful o painful. The shot of a small bird wriggling on the land in amidst the war was the most painful 2 watch. The beginning 9mins was very beautiful. I thought tis movie was like the classic war movies wit a lot of action scenes bt tis was more 2 the soldiers emotions. Nick Nolte,Sean Penn,Ben Chaplin n Elias Koteas gave such amazing performance. Nick Nolte deserves a lot more award than the only 1 nomination he received. He was really good in his role. The only thing i didn't like was tat Terrence Mallick should hv given more screen presence 2 John Travolta,Adrien Brody,George Clooney,n John Cusack. Y did he cast such great actors if he wasn't gonna use them a lot? It seems tat Viggo Mortensen,Mickey rourke,Gary Oldman,Martin Sheen ,Bill Pullman n Billy Bob Thorton did shot sm scenes 4 the movie bt their scene was cut later. I would love 2 see 2 longer cut. Anyway,it['s a great movie n might b 1 of the best war movies made. Terrence Mallick should make movies more often coz he truly is a great director.

Fantastic cast, and acting to go along with it. Lovet these older war films. It's a great story once you get into it and understand what's happening, really emotion to a degree. Sean Penn's best!

probably my all time favorite film, love nick nolte in this in fact the entire cast is amazing i cant believe saving private ryan bat this movie at the oscars

This is a different kind of war film, Very good...I don't understand how one can be confused by this one. Fantastic cinematography, Very strong cast and Sean penn is actually good in this. One thing that stands out is the score which during the battle scenes just seems to lift the viewer upward and away. A beautifully crafted film and one of the best war films around, Yes it's poetic and arty but at the same time it's savage and gritty. There is another world out there...So why do we choose this one? Well because were told to and we think that this life is the only life we can lead, Many of the choices given us are the only choices on the menu so it makes us think we are free. This one makes you think not just about war, It makes you think about the world, society and the criminals who call the shots. Delve deeper into this film to reveal its true power. Respect to all involved with this film 10/10

Had a hard time figuring out what this movie was all about: the characters acting one way and the director taking it another. I didn't know if it was a Vietnam film or WWII. It was all over the place, confusing yet profound. The battle scenes were well done but couldn't make up for a bi-polar manic story-line. 3/5

It was not bad I guess the story was abit slow at times. 6.5/10

Great plot, actors, cinematography, editing, and music. All the pieces of filmmaking is put so perfectly as one big puzzle. James Caviezel is doing a great job. Also I really like the soundtrack. Whenever I have trouble going to sleep, I listen to it.

it's slow but still a good war flick, it's not an action packed movie, it's more of a movie with a message. Shows the different kinds of leaders. and soldiers. Their are tons of big actors in this movie, adn even more big actors had their scenes deleted, the original cut was 5 hours. overall I woudl say this is a good movie, with a good message. 4/5
