I can't explain it, It's my favortie movie, I'm really in love with it, everybit! It got me in love with the stars! The only bad part is when it ends, Great times! Oh, The nostalgia!

More of animation eye candy. This is probably Disney's best animation, but not their meatiest story-telling or character writing like, say...Mulan, Tarzan, or The Lion King. You won't remember this the way you'll remember the old classics. The film tanked due to the "shoots straight to the adventure and puts its character-writing in the passenger's seat by having them hitch-hike the plot" despite wanting to portray deep, story-based characters anyway, then gives a huge lack of information on both its own setting and its own cast (for instance, every planet is ruled within an Inter-Union empire by a single Queen, and their space is actually "an invented air" that is not space at all; you will only know this by reading a book on it, which really shouldn't be the case), and later sort of short-cuts what is meant to be "character development" and "time development" for everyone and everything involved. There is more time, juice and fruit in the events that happen to the main character than the main character himself; the only reason why that doesn't work here is because they wanted him to be the film's fruition. The script began to look more like a very good-looking episode of a TV show. I believe this is why critics felt it was "mechanical and not much of a movie." They're used to Disney being very story-heavy instead of main-adventure heavy; the issue was that it tried to be both but wasn't. It would've had much better story-execution if they set it up the same way they set up Mulan. Giving insight on the main character's galatic home world so we can at least know WHERE they are, WHY they can breathe in space, and if this is an alternative world or a "future influenced by the past" world based on our own without having to look at a commentary of the director mentioning all this much-needed information on a DVD feature. Showing how he handles a walk through every day life to complete this deeply emotional image we're supposed to have of him, and so on. His transition from rebel to [spoiler] at the end of the film also felt very random and out of place with his own canon personality, so it would'v been nice to have bridged the gap where that specific "future route" took place in his mind. You get the impression that he's a free spirit; military, however, is for those who either don't have one, or get it beat out of them to make room for an obedient soldier who follows orders. It's not a bad film. Decent watch. Did great with the adventure. Just could've been better with the overall writing. It was style over substance for me, despite its obvious, but sort of half-arsed effort to give both.
