In The Hangover 2 the director has made the exact same movie all over again. Except that he's set it in Thailand, and the jokes aren't that funny as the 1st. So once again, a bachelor party spins out of control and the guys wake up the next morning with no memory of the previous night's misadventures, only to realize that someone is missing. From there, it's a mad rush trying to retrace their steps and to put the pieces together.in 2009 'The Hangover' crept into our cinemas quietly. With a cast of mostly unknowns, the film arrived with no expectations whatsoever. Yet, that ribald comedy went down as 2009's biggest surprise hit thanks to the novelty of its premise and the unpredictability of its characters and their behavior. Remember how shocked you were when one of them pretends to jerk off a baby? Or when they discover a tiger in the bathroom? Or when Mike Tyson shows up? The new film doesn't work as well because it's missing that element of surprise. That joy of stumbling into an outrageous, unexpected joke has all seem's familiar in 'The Hangover 2', whose gags feel't the same. so you wonder why you're paying to watch the same film again. Our heroes Phil, Stu and Alan wake up not in a Caesar's Palace suite on this occasion, but a fleabag hotel in Bangkok. Instead of finding a baby or a tiger in their hotel room, they find a chain-smoking monkey. And Ed, who's the groom-to-be this time round, doesn't wake up with a tooth missing, but with a tattoo on his face. Gross gags are plenty in this sequel, as you would expect from a comedy set in the seedy streets of Bangkok. In 'The Hangover' Stu woke up to discover he'd married a stripper. In this sequel, let's just say he's done something far more shocking. Mr Chow, that effeminate criminal from the earlier film returns too, and shows us more of himself. They even repeat the end credits photo montage, a clever way to fill in the blanks from the blackout night. In The end it's still a good film but kinda the same movie as the 1st.

absolutely fantastic alot better than first only question is will they do a 3rd if so am sure will be as funny as first two if havent seen MUST WATCH ! i think the is a better film than the first as you know what sort of things will be going on but eaither way when they still happen still just as funny

This movie was very good, although the first one had a greater impact, this one was quite charming.The cast of characters did a terrific job. Even the minor characters were extremely memorable. The story line, direction and conclusion were all predictable but creative. The funny parts were touching and laughable at the same time. The monkey has a huge career ahead of him. And the actor that played Teddy is adorable. All in all great movie, fun for mostly the whole family, Bang-Cock seems like alot of fun, even if you can got shot, and arrested, you get to chill out with Mike Tyson and a cigarette smoking monkey, got a light.lol...lol...lol...

You shouldn't go in expecting a great story, but if you go in with the right mindset, you will enjoy this movie very much. Zach's character in particular is great.

The story is pretty basic, are three main characters find themselves in another drunken mess, and have to solve it. It is really just a way to push the comedy, has it is very pointless.

The comedy is great though. You will find yourself laughing, although less than the first movie. The actors are at the top of their game. The direction is great, I loved the use of the camera. It looked halfway between a handheld camera and a normal movie camera, which gave it an interesting effect.

Overall, the challenge of any sequel film is how to continue the story and spirit of the first film while maintaining a unique and fresh voice that is all its own. By piggy-backing on the original, Hangover 2 has done nothing new with this franchise, and in fact goes to show just how hard it is to make magic twice. The same antics that we’ve seen in the first film don’t hold up as well a second time, and this film has nothing more or new to offer. If, by some chance, you’ve managed to make it this far without seeing The Hangover 2, do yourself a favor and don’t. -Christopsy

all right so the Wolfpack is back. i loved the first movie almost to the point that i became a fan of it, its one of my most favorite comedies of all time, literally. that one has surprises, the movie itself was a big surprise it was not a usual comedy it was something different and lovable. i usually don't like comedies but i loved that movie.

but talking about this one, i am severely disappointed with the writers and director of this movie for making this movie silly. yes i hate silly comedies. this was death silly and bad too overall. this a below average lazy and not likable sequel. i am quite shocked at the Audience rating here on Flixster. fans love it, it is very OVERRATED according to me. this movie did entertained me a bit but then this movie was a total nothing afterwards. this movie lacks the surprise element that the first one had, i exactly new what was going to happen at many points of the movie, it was just the same movie in a different place but a total bad screenplay and plot. i really didn't liked this movie.

Ed Helms screams and freaks out alot. Cooper is whatever. Ken Jeong is someone i mildly like for his character not much, i like him in his comedy series Community.

this movie has a bad plot to be honest, its just the same. this was not a good idea, why did they have to make a second part of it. they should have left the first one as it is to have been called a original comedy. screenplay was uneven and lazy.don't wanna talk about other things.

it has some really silly and awfully shocking scenes. ugh you need to see it yourself.

Now, the movie is hilarious. I have become so used to the thought of the Judd Apatow gang being the only ones to make truly funny films, but I realized very quickly into this movie that I was dead wrong. I think this movie was by far ten times funnier than Pineapple Express, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Step Brothers, etc. And I find each of those flicks truly, hilariously, funny.So PLEASE see this film. This movie was funny as hell. I liked that it kept the same basic concept as the first. A night on the town against their knowledge, and then a fun-filled wild goosechase to figure out where their friend was. The actors were just as good as the last movie and I'm holding my breath for the third. They even managed to throw a little romance in the mix. A great movie that I would recommend to anyone with working eyes.

It had to be a daunting task to try to follow up on the success of the original. You can sense that at times when this movie goes a little to over the top. There is a sense at times that the movie tries to be more outrageous than the original film but more outrageous does not always equate with funnier. The Hangover 2 is a perfect example of this concept, it is at times more outrageous but never reaches the comedic heights of the original. That being said however, it is a pretty funny movie at times, has some good laughs mixed throughout and on the whole I enjoyed it. Setting the movie in Thailand opened up a whole array of cultural humor for the film to play on and when its at its best Hangover 2 is doing exactly that. Other than that the movie pretty much sticks the successful formula its predecessor laid out. All in all its a fun movie to watch but not as good as the original and while it may be a bit unfair to compare the two, the Hangover 2 tries to be so much like the original in so many ways its hard not to.

Hangover 2 is a good movie,but not as good as the first.It is based on the first movie,and only small changes apear.The story follows four friends who got drunk and did a lot of things,and they cant remember any of it.Through the whole movie they are trying to find out what they did and fix it.In the end they menage to remember and the whole thing ends pretty good for them.
Interesting movie,but the first is much better.

The Hangover 2 is so much better than the Hangover. It was a bit of a disapointment that they used the same storyline but it worked out well. The film is funny and entertaining. Also it uses the same cast as the last movie so you know it will be funny. This movie is a must watch if you have watched the Hangover 1!

i liked this better than the first ,the monkey is soooo cute ,and allan steals the film again .room for a third in my opinion ,it can only get crazier . its a total feel good film .the chinease guy is fantastic in it again , he is my favourite in it .

This movie was an okay movie. It was pretty much the same plot as the first... There's a wedding, they get drugged, wind up somewhere crazy, someone is lost, yada yada yada... This movie had some funny parts, but it was not as good as the first one. This movie, Hangover Part 2, was missing something... The element of surprise. There wasn't anything new and catchy. It ended the same... It started out the same... It was funny, but not original. If I had seen this movie before the first, it would have been way funnier! I give this movie 3 stars, it was worth a watch, but not out of theaters. It needs some work.

laugh out loud sort of film!!! Just like the first. Loved how it followed a similar story line to the first one with differences, such as a stolen tiger is replaced by a stolen monkey, and Stu ending up with yet another prostitute, all be it an unusual one ;) Great Great Great.

I will be watching this again!!! however as with sequals it was not as good as the first. If the ratings would allow it I would give it a 4.5 but as I cant I'll give it 5

Movie is still the same as the old one. But its still the hangover =). I wish people can have a time like this without the tattoos and the riots. Movie is a must watch 10/10 no doubt.Would love to have a moment like them here in san diego =) enjoy the trip

With most movies sequels just don't beat the first but in this case they were fairly even,They were both very alike as the incidents were quite the same like finding a tiger in the bathroom in the first they replace it for a monkey in the second but both were stolen from someone.I'm very glad they kept the same actors as they did in the first.It made me laugh from start to finish and there were alot more emotions when they found out it had happened to them again.All in all I'd give this movie a 9.3/10 the .3 for just topping the original movie.

Two years after the first film and the wolf pack is back again with Stu (Ed Helms) preparing to marry Lauren (Jamie Chung) in Thailand. Her conservative father disapproves of Stu and doesn't consider him a proper doctor. Both Phil (Bradley Cooper) and Dug (Justin Bartha) are also disappointed that Stu has opted not have a proper bachelor party. Stu is reluctant to invite Alan (Zack Galifianakis) to the wedding, even though he has been waiting eagerly for the pack to reunite. Stu quickly caves in and the group travels to Thailand together. Tagging along with them this time is Lauren's gifted younger brother Teddy (Mason Lee). One night on a beach in Thailand the boys, including Teddy, decide to have a drink together. Stu, Phil and Alan wake up together the next morning and find themselves in a sweaty Bangkok hotel. Teddy is missing, someone's finger is left in the room, Alan's head has been shaved, there's a monkey jumping around and Stu has a real tattoo on his face. On top of this, they discover that Alan invited Mr. Chow (Ken Jeong) to party with them the night before. The boys set off to uncover what happened and to find Teddy before the wedding.

The Hangover Part II is a film stooped so far into stupidity that it never had room for Mel Gibson. Originality, or a lack of, is the least of director Todd Phillips problems here. The film starts reasonably, with Stu showing his reluctance because of what happened in the first picture. It looks as though he might have learnt something from his previous experience. Could this be a strand of intelligence? That strand is quickly chewed up and spat out because everything else here works to appeal, very strictly, to the lowest common denominator. The Hangover (2009) earned a lot of mileage from the freshness of its characters and their distinct personalities. But this entry suffers terminally from sequel syndrome: there's no change or development in the characters because of the studio's need to recycle what worked once before. We gave the first film the benefit of the doubt because its characters promised this to be a one off adventure, never to be spoken of again. But what sort of message does it send now when a character has his finger cut off, wakes up in a lift and says that he feels good even though he doesn't remember anything? Alcoholism pollutes the world as devastating as any drug today but here is a mainstream film that comfortably celebrates idiocy by letting its characters off with a laughably soft and irresponsible finale. The plot is already hopelessly illogical but narrative points like the riot, the severed finger (hilarious?) and Stu's tattoo are weightless and trivial because in the end who cares, so long as these yahoos had a good time.

Taking the film on pure entertainment value and Part II is pitifully dull. Although it insists on recycling a number of plot contrivances, it lacks any particularly memorable set pieces from the first film and there's little joy to be found in the dialogue. The colourful quips from the first entry are gone and the film is more puerile than I ever remember the series being. The ultra lowbrow humour, involving masturbation, sodomy and racial stereotypes, has no role other than to excite teenage boys so they can collectively cry 'ewww' together. There's also a worthless car chase that doubles as a shootout but the scene involving a transsexual prostitute is a disturbing new low for films of this kind. This was never going to be an actor's film but on a comedic level the performances can do little to spark the limp comedy. Alan just seems to trot out dumb lines and Stu's shrieking is noisy and embarrassing. In a minute role a bloated Paul Giamatti has little to work with. And Mr. Chow is doing his very best to find a place on a list for one of the most obnoxious characters in cinematic history. And on that character there's more than just a touch of racism about the contrast between fun loving Americans, who are just out for a good time and the way Asians are represented as either ultra conservatives, dangerous or just freaks. Part III of this dwindling series is apparently already in the works. There's never been a better time to become a teetotaller.

Even though it wasn't as good as the original, it still had it's jaw-dropping scenes and it's over-the-top eccentricity in hilarity. With the same crew as the original tearing it up in Bangkok this time, there's no question that that this comedy of the summer will please it's devout fans of the predecessor.
