In this comedy, Emma (Natalie Portman) and Adam (Ashton Kutcher) are life-long friends who almost ruin everything by having sex one morning. In order to protect their friendship, they make a pact to keep their relationship strictly "no strings attached." "No strings" means no jealousy, no expectations, no fighting, no flowers, no baby voices. It means they can do whatever they want, whenever they want, in whatever public place they want, as long as they don't fall in love. The questions become - Can you have sex without love getting in the way? And can their friendship survive?

No strings attached was the kind of a movie i wasn't waiting for to watch that much, the only reason to watch this movie was the wonderful and talented and charming Natalie Portman and yes the director too. Natalie is now my most favorite actress of Hollywood now after her greatest performance ever in Black Swan. this movie is a romantic comedy, with less comedy, less silleness, balance romance and what the trailer showed us being a sex comedy, completely opposite of it, less sex. i liked it, i am not being stupid, i like it. its better than most of the romantic comedies that were out last year or last 2 years, not a good or excellent movie but still likeable, one time watch with very good charm to it. it has some faults and problems, but they don't effect the overall movie which is perfect. it had a predictable story and plot. talking about sex friends- lol, it was better than last year's Love and other drugs which just survived on the performances of the pair, the whole look and the fresh idea.

Direction of this movie is appreciative, i must say he handled this movie with care and depp thought. this movie could have become a silly rom com but he saved it, i liked it. but it needed slightly more effort. screenplay needed some touches, other wise perfect timings of everything. not good written but well written. but some minute problems with it otherwise it was ok. the movie takes a bit time to actually make you get into the movie's vein. but once it do you love it. it feels very empty in the beginning but than it is a likeable fare. plot was ok, good story. i would say one thing that they needed to have give some more attention to the characters. editing was pretty average.

talking about performances so about Ashton Kutcher, he was below average, this guy sems very cute and likable in the movie but he is just not a good actor, i didn't liked him in this movie either. but he looked very hot in that naked butt scene, lol. he looks good but doesn't act good. Natalie Portman, i haven't seen her in this kind movie ever. she needed a break from all the hard work she did in Black Swan but even in this silly rom com genre she found a likeable above average (if not good) movie, bravo. i liked her in this movie, she could have been better. she is so beautiful and lovable in this movie. she was good in this movie. the supporting cast was ok.

so i liked this movie, i know you will too. go watch it.

The basic problem with the film is that it's lopsided. The Kutcher character makes sense, but Natalie Portman's character DOESN'T really. She's sleeping with him 'cos she LIKES him, right? (oh yeah, and there's the big cock thing...) so WHY doesn't she want to BE with him? Because she has to marry a Harvard big shot? Hm! wouldn't that make her one cold bitch? unless of course she was a bit silly (she's not), of Holly Golightly (again, she's not: she can easily afford to keep AK on her salary), or damaged in some way (yes, that!, the film says, but not v. convincingly). For the romcom magic to work we need to LIKE both characters and want them to be together. The character isn't really written in such a way as to make us like her, so.... hire an actress we already like. Don't get me wrong, I love her too, but insofaras NSA is a good film, her character is not what makes it. The boy has his mates, his career, the whole thing with his father - it's a very full role. The incidental characters are TERRIFIC: Greta Gerwig should get the lead in a Hollywood A-movie tomorrow, she JUST looks right. Lake Bell's dyspraxic worst-date-ever-square-but-kind-of-HOT-with-it is a great turn. I loved the girl who does the impression of Drew Barrymore... I always love Kevin Kline.
It's a shame about NP. She is obviously SUPER-intelligent, v. hard-working, a fine actress who takes challenging roles. if you click her name on this site it is remarkable the RANGE of work she's done, but to be honest, I don't think she's been really WONDERFUL in anything. Natalie, I think you are fabulous. I hope you'll be President one day - it's about time we had someone who's charismatic AND smart. in the meantime, look at Anton Kutcher. He's not exactly typecast - does ultralight to medium dark, but because writers KNOW what he's about as an actor, they write FOR him. I'd love someone to write something just perfect FOR YOU so you can be awesome and i can add to my favourites list... but i have no idea what that part would be like. [Can't believe i'm posting career advice to Natalie Portman online - yes, i am a plonker. sorry everyone. ;-)]

Great Rom/Com, Really funny and a good one to watch if you need a bit of cheering-up. Natalie Portman is fantastic in this, it's an easy one to watch, and I would probably want to again. I think it's perfect for a girls night in. I would say a good 'all-rounder'.

The movie's plot has been done at least 25 times. It's a very predictable ending. So if you believe in love conquers all, this movie is for you (and if you don't mind knowing exactly where the entire movie is headed). It is still a cute movie for all you romantics.

Just saw it. I liked it but it wasn't a comedy. It was more of a romantic drama. There were more serious moments than funny ones. If you don't expect to laugh every second than you will like this movie. Ashton and Natalie were awesome in it. Ashton surprised me. I used to think of him as the goofy comedy actor. This movie showed me that he has alot more range. 8.5/10.
