Watch The Hunger Games: In a dystopian future, the totalitarian nation of Panem is divided between 12 districts and the Capitol. Each year two young representatives from each district are selected by lottery to participate in The Hunger Games. Part entertainment, part brutal retribution for a past rebellion, the televised games are broadcast throughout Panem. The 24 participants are forced to eliminate their competitors while the citizens of Panem are required to watch. When 16-year-old Katniss's young sister, Prim, is selected as District 12's female representative, Katniss volunteers to take her place. Decent, though I enjoyed the book much more. The movie skips parts of the book leaving holes in the movie and parts that are then left unexplained. In my opinion parts that are important to character and plot development. 7/10

It is a remarkable film and I loved all 2 hours and 22 minutes of it. Though there were some changes regarding the plot and with some characters, they were necessary in order to convert the story into a movie. Those of you who have read the amazing book must know what I'm talking about(the cave scene mostly, it felt a tad bit rushed to me and I was hoping for more but it was still good). If you haven't read The Hunger Games trilogy, then get on that before watching this. Sure, you may enjoy the film, but the book has so many details that the movie couldn't find room for. For those of you concerned with the mild violence they had in the movie compared to the book, just remember that this was made for a PG-13 audience and that the book wasn't meant just for the violence, it was also meant for the terrible situation the people of Panem are put through. Remember there's more to the story than just kids killing each other. People who compare this book to Twilight have seriously lost their minds. There are no similarities between the two and honestly? The Hunger Games has more to it than Twilight could ever hope for. Even Stephenie Meyer enjoyed the book immensely. And finally to all who are complaining about the links, get out there and see the movie in theaters. It will be better to see it in good quality and if you're not willing to pay for a ticket, then you're not desperate enough to see it. It is a wonderful movie and there was so much work put into it that I think paying for a ticket is a small price to pay the people who worked their asses off doing the best that they can to make this movie for you.

movie was really slow, bland, and boring. I'd give it a 2.5/5, BUT I'm giving the series a chance. I want to see what happens in the sequels, maybe it will make me appreciate this movie more. Like Twilight, the first time I seen it I was like blah, but after I watched Breaking Dawn, it forced me to watch the series again from the beginning and I found a new appreciation for Twilight. Again, very slow and very bland, but I'm looking forward to the sequels

Good movie. A foreshadowing of what the US (maybe the world) will become if we don't replace every last parasite with political power - the president, congress, senate, judges - all of them. Chuck 'em out! You should also check out "In Time" on this channel. Similar post apocalyptic type movie.

These sheep need us to be their alarm clock. The US is preparing to instate martial law. We will loose our freedoms. MSJewelryAU is 100% correct. However, I am at a loss as to how. Bush/BinLaden & all their goonies planned 911, their aim was to create this economic crisis we are dealing with. Looks like the US is headed for a dictatorship.

Books are better than a movie made from a book....maybe better for the people who had not read the book but if you have, you may find it disapointing, not what you really expect...like the harry potter movie....it bored me but the book get me going...

SO AMAZING I SAW THIS TWO TIMES TODAY AH, GREAT RECOMEND IT TO ALL I WOULD VOLUNTEER AS TRIBUTE. DEPENDING WHAT DISTRICT I LIVED IN. AHHHH

I mean, it will make sense because they already cut so much stuff... Primrose gave the MockingJay pin to Katniss?! there were no cookies from Peeta's father...

This is what I hate in movies based on books! Even the easiest detail is screwed up! When the tributes go for their private sessions with the gamemakers, they call Katniss first; it felt so wrong I had to pause the movie and go check the book... It's suppose to be the boy first, if they make the other books into movies, in the next HG that scene won't make sense...

That's why I haven't seen it yet X/ I don't want to ruin the movie with a bad cam...

Posted by IToldYouSo

not completely the same thing... in BR the enemies of the government are the children itself; in HG children are used to punish the districts. plus there is a lot more side story in HG even if the main subject (the idea of the games) are identical in both movies. I think in the end it is useless to compare any movie, it is hard not to watch a movie and not find similarities to another movie...

I hate that he was able to add that scene instead of a Cato versus Thresh scene.
