Watch Joyeux Noel: In 1914, World War I, the bloodiest war ever at that time in human history, was well under way. However on Christmas Eve, numerous sections of the Western Front called an informal, and unauthorized, truce where the various front-line soldiers of the conflict peacefully met each other in No Man's Land to share a precious pause in the carnage with a fleeting brotherhood. This film dramatizes one such section as the French, Scottish and German sides partake in the unique event, even though they are aware that their superiors will not tolerate its occurrence.

Come on dude "went to die for no reason"...Really?? Ofcourse there is a reason! Wars have always been conducted to seize/defend lands for the higher classes and seize/defend some some sort of wealth or goods again for the elites. Elites see, elites desire, poor and middle class people go and die.

Based on true accounts about the World War I's Christmas truce participated by French, Scottish, and German soldiers, anyone will appreciate this Cannes-winning war drama that's reminiscent of the time when everyone united in the name of peace.

would off been nice if they kept to what really happened that day xmas 1914, up till that xmas that year there was alls a xmas truce, while they was playing football in no-man-land the British/French open fire with field cannon, since then there as never been a xmas truce again. There was reasons for this, if you go back just before the WWI, the Unions and Socialist leaders was going to have a meeting in a cafe in france, about bring the Working class together and not to fight/go to war, The French and Bitish Government planed to murder all that turned up, but only got the 1

A TERRIFIC film. A movie piece that evokes a sense of shared humanity and will make anyone watching it wonder why the F*** are they at war? The BEST holiday film I've seen, one that goes beyond Santa Claus and even beyond Christianity to the real spirit of the season.

If you are looking for a film this Christmas that captures the spirit of the holiday without all the commercial glitz and jazz that is our modern Christmas this is the film for you.

Excellent movie, its a great representation of the Christmas truce of 1914, good cast and made all the more authentic by the mix of languages(English subtitles on stagevu). The scale of the truce however isn't well represented as there were initially 100,000 British (not just Scottish but also English and Welsh)and German soldiers involved that stretched along the length of the Western Front. Still good though! ****
