The Godfather of Revenge movies! It is quite a long compared to your average Action films, but I wouldn't have it any other way. The story alone is enough to pull you in never mind the Action sequences. Although it takes a little long to get to the action, when your there, your there! John Creasy after working for the CIA, had lost faith in humanity and is set on a path of self-destruction. Until he is hired by a wealthy family in Mexico City, to watch over their daughter due to the recent kidnappings. The little girl began to bring joy back into his life, when she is suddenly kidnapped, Creasy unleashes a firestorm of relentless vengeance on those responsible.

were to start with this film over all it was an action packed movie with a right good story line and some good acting there is not a lot of bad things u can say about this film can u imagine going through wot denzel went through a think a would do the same for my daughter a life for a life wot an ultimate sacrifice,I cant praise this movie enough strongly recommend it you will not b let down put it this way am a hardy guy n it put a tear in my eye a few time through the film a could go on but watch it for ur self 10/10

man on fire is a terrific movie, it has every thing, it will have you on the edge of your seat. washington and fanning really deliver a perfect balance, of action and drama that will have you at time's reaching for the tissue's, with beautiful cinematography i would highly reccomend.

Certainly one of the finest movies I have seen for quite some time. Exquisite direction and flawless acting make this a very entertaining and often moving film. Denzel Washington plays one of his most engaging and emotional roles to date, and the rest of the cast perform beautifully. Christopher Walken is of course superb in his part although he did not appear as often as I would have liked. A story of ultimate greed that backfires is offset against a childs innocence and love. This is also a film for action movie lovers as it has its fair share of bullets, rockets and revenge. The location of Mexico City adds a feel of seediness and corruption which in itself is an eye opener. All in all, a truly gripping film from beginning to end. Highly recommended!

from watching this movies its perfect the plot is amazing a beatiful story filled with anger and vengeance and brings out alot of emotion from the begging to end.

i can truely say ive seen over 1000 movies or even more and more and this is my favourite movie along side films such as forrest gump and the shawshank redemtion films with a deep emotional context i recomend this film to anyone i promise it wont be regreted

From the moment Radha Mitchell's Lisa meets Denzel Washington's Creasy, we know we are in the presence of a real man. Lisa's husband, Samuel (Marc Anthony) is not only a wuss, but he's a refined wealthy foreign wuss. The audience can sense Lisa's relief: something familiar and manly is at hand. And in this revenge flick, Creasy's presence could not be any more timely. Machismo, or the lack thereof, is the subtext of this flick. As soon as ten-year-old Pita (Dakota Fanning) arrives on scene, we know new life will return to Creasy's heart. And when she gives him a St Jude medal (the Saint of Lost Causes) then we know this preternaturally wise kid has found the perfect fatherly soul mate she should have had instead of the wimpy one who actually sired her. But all this regained spiritual life and found love is not to last. After Creasy and Pita have bonded, the little girl becomes a kidnap victim. This in a country where conspiracies hide within schemes within plots.

I hate preachy revenge flicks. I pay money to go see a revenge movie, I want revenge -- not some tough guy learning that killing is bad, etc. Seriously, if I wanted a sermon on the importance of turning the other cheek, I'd either go to church or rent an eco-friendly Steven Seagal movie.

I'm a big fan of the revenge genre, there's something about the build-up that gets my blood boiling. I love getting attached to characters and feeling their vengeance, which is why I love revenge movies that go all-out and feature TRUE revenge.

COLLATERAL DAMAGE is a good example of a movie that just backed itself into a wall. It starts as a revenge movie and ends as a message against terrorism, war, and violence. In an Arnold Schwarzenegger film? Give me a break.

So I had never expected to see such hardcore material in MAN ON FIRE -- it's an all-out action thriller that takes no prisoners. When Denzel stuck a stick of dynamite up a man's anus, then blew him up, I thought, "Wow, this movie really isn't afraid of offending people."

Washington's character isn't likable which is part of the reason this succeeds. Most revenge movies feature heroes who, magically, don't seem to want to kill anybody. However in this, Creasy (Washington) is a bodyguard who avenges the death of a little girl (Dakota Fanning) and he does so with more than mere vengeance. "I'm going to kill everyone," he says, and then does, with no pity and no remorse.

In fact this actually reminded me of the Tom Clancy novel "Without Remorse," only it's even better. Scott is at the top of his game here, revolutionizing subtitles along the way and adding an unmistakable grain to his movie that only helps it become more memorable as a gritty revenge flick.

It also features both Christopher Walken and Mickey Rourke -- the Kings of Cool -- in the same film together. That right there makes the film worth seeing.

I agree with Quentin Tarantino. This is one of Tony Scott's best films and a great, hard-as-nails revenge movie -- I had expected little and got back a lot. A definite must-see, and an Oscar-worthy performance by Washington.
