Oh MY GOD, this made no sense. It was weird. Messed up situations.

It started very well but lost it towards the end. Strange.

Cautionary tale with similar protagonist motivation to Eyes Wide Shut except in this case Macy is not rich and insulated. Read: if he doesn't get a grip he's going to lose it and go to jail or worse. Woodbine, appears to have landed in jail in a similar frame of mind as Macy. When the two talked, adding to each others half-finished sentences, it was like one fantasy-diven dance of the lost-ending nowhere. Agreed about the dialogue in many places. Didn't work for me either.

Great acting by the main character. He was able to express his bottled up thoughts and hurt others as well as himself. The character was so eager to have his view in life understood that in the end he found it but in the most oddest of sorts.

I recognized it was written by David Mamet from the dialogue right off before I even read it was him. I love Mamet's work because the narrative takes so many twists and turns and changes and surprises us sometimes even in the last frame. And at the same time it has substance and social commentary. But his dialogue gets on my nerves just the same. People just don't talk like that. And yet, he is one of our top contemporary American play writes.

An excellent study of the male menopause - revealing his hidden frustrations and ending in finding his peace - had to laugh at the obvious makeup of a bald head and moustache depicting a gay.

William H. Macy's character turns to accept and embrace his prejudices finally, in this dark and taut thriller. Superb film, with Macy perfectly cast as the mild and meek-mannered man who snaps. I don't usually give 5/5, but this film gets it from me.
