Great Movie and suspense...I Enjoyed it with my kids...5/5 just like that lol

If you want to wait around for a failing plot. By all means waste your time and watch this flick. It is not scary or suspenseful. It is rather irritating and shows a spoiled girl asking for trouble. The creatures are not seen in the movie unti half way through the film and everything before that point doesn't really keep you interested.
A total flop for any horror seeker. You will defenitely be left with nothing to fear and will need to get your fix somewhere else. You won't even be afraid of the dark!

ok i haven't seen that original made for TV movie but the makers would be disappointed with this movie. Del Toro is a visionary film maker but whenever he produces, Co Produces or writes a movie while not Directing it, it turns out something mediocre. his Directed movie Pan's Labyrinth is one of my all time favorites as you can see in me Flixster's Favorite Movies list. this is not the worst Scary movie of the year or ever but it is a very mediocre movie, quite average. like you wanna have a just nice time with nothing great, so you watch this movie.

ok so i heard the original one had a grown up girl and this one had a child victim, and was the story the same or they did some changes? i felt the vibes of Pan's Labyrinth in this movie or most of the Horror cliches with kids or Teens as central characters. i mean a kid with parents problems moves into a superb looking gran house, it has beautiful gardens and a Labyrinth. but the house has a ghostly or creature present from the past. the creatures were the only nice thing about this movie or otherwise it just isn't something new or great. its just that usual ordinary stuff nothing special. you may not wanna waste your time or money on it. or you may already did!

Bailee Madison once again plays a disturbed little girl with parents issues. her characters always seems like over 40 woman with midlife crisis, funny it is. but i am going to appreciate her performance in this movie. she plays this character Sally really nice, she moves from her Urban house to this place with his Father and a new mom but ends up finding that her life is in danger. those creepy screams and expressions for a child of this age to do with such nice way is appreciable. she did nice. i really like Guy Pearce, i just like him for no reasons but he didn't acted at all here. Katie Holmes, i adore her like Crazy. i like her the most good looking actress of Hollywood. she was nice but both of these actors just weren't there, like they didn't adjusted in the movie or something. or maybe there characters development was a problem or maybe too much focus was on Sally.

Direction was pretty below the average, screenplay was uneven and not perfectly written. plot was a bit engaging but the other flaws really doesn't quite make it a smoothly running plot. nice art direction and cinematography. the creatures were pretty scary, creepy and just awful looking.

the movie isn't that scary, i wasn't scare at all. you know i get scared of those Paranormal stuff movies not the one with creatures like this or with serial killers but the only thing that makes me scare in movies like this is the characters, their emotions and the fact that what would i be feeling if i was in their place.

it is a creepy looking atmospheric horror creature movie with a somewhat interesting plot and 50% cliched plot but something in this movie might makes your time a bit worth it, a bit. the ending was so bad i can't even tell you. overdone ending and the movie itself some minute things between the characters were overdone.

Alright, this film DOES have its moments, but these are few and far between. It stops being scary about 20 or 30 minutes into the movie, and it's all because of one mistake, one mess-up, one fatal flaw; they show the monsters in the first 30 minutes. Now this may not seem like a big thing, but once you see them, they're not scary anymore. Alright to be fair, it doesn't really show them that well, mostly a dark camera shot from an obscured view, but you can still see the basic shape of them, and they're not much bigger than rats or mice. The reason it was scary is because you couldn't see the creatures, you didn't know what they were, or you didn't even know if they WERE creatures, maybe they were all one huge entity, but no. Also, I may add that any light at all hurts them, not just sunlight. Near the end of the movie, the girl actually learns she can fight them off with light, so she uses a camera and actually starts hunting these creatures down; and when they gang up on her, she holds them off for a good FIVE MINUTES with that camera. Now really, if a little girl can fight them off for five minutes all by herself, how are they any large threat? My next point is the questionable acting, at some points, it's strangely written, and at some times even downright stupid. The creatures being a surprising factor in this. They use dialog that is at some times, just overused and stupid. Example: "We just want to be your friend." Thankfully this only happens a couple of times throughout the movie. Also, I need to say that the creatures are not fully explained. They actually do have an explanation, but it goes by so fast that you're probably going to miss it, and even then it doesn't really add up all that well. Lastly, I have to mention this ending, it makes absolutely no sense what-so-ever. Really, this ending is bad. I guess if you're looking for something different, you could give this a try, but if you wanted something scary and chilling like the original, sorry, but this isn't it..
