Jesus Christ! The ending just knocked me off my feet.

Ok movie. not a big subtitle fan.

no wonder this movie got 5 stars!! Great story thought it was all very well done. If you like a film with a twist then this is it!definitely a film you should watch!

Had Biutiful not come out in the last year or two, this would be hands down the best foreign language film (French, Arabic). in earlier reviews that this is definitely Lebanon-based with the religious conflicts. Rather harsh subject matter that requires full attention for interpretation. 9/10

Why are you complaining about the scenary and accents when there is such a compelling story behind this movie?? It's like saying oh boohoo, this movie was filmed in Mexico and they're pretending it's Argentina. Or oh boohoo they're pretending it's New York when it's actually Vancouver, Canada (cause it's cheaper to film here, and I would know cause I live in Van and a lot of the movies are flimed here).. So what? Oh shucks, Al Pacino is doing a horrible Cuban accent, so the movie Scarface totally sucks?... are you serious?!!! Are you catching my drift here?....

This is a really sad and emotional movie. The acting was amazing. The whole movie was really good. The storyline was wonderful. This is definetly worth watching!

In case u didn't notice, almost half of the dialog in the movie was in arabic.& most of the scenes were (supposed 2 be) in Lebanon. So that makes it an arabic movie as much as it is french... & I would like 2 point out something. This movie is an insult to Lebanon & the Lebanese people. & Also to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan & its people. The middle eastern scences were filmed in Jordan. I recognized some of the places, bcoz I have visited Jordan so many times. There was Othman Bin Affan St, & The streets in downtown, oh & the funniest thing was at minute 1:26:15 there is a street sign that is written both in Arabic & English & it says (City Center, Zarqa) That (zarqa) place is a state in Jordan's east side. & The arabic that was spoken during the movie was crap. They had acters from all over the middle east. Some of them were Iraqies, & others were Palestinians, & only like 3 or so were from Lebanon (& u want me 2 beleive that this movie is about a Lebanese person & her story?!)some of the actors even had problems with pronunciation. It's like they were speaking arabic for the 1st time in their lives. I didn't like the movie bcoz it was a very sad story. & what made the movie seem very bad was all the "arabic" speaking acters with their many different dialects & mispronunciation of very simple arabic words & the place that was clearly not Lebanon. Lebanon does not have a desert of any kind. It is on the coast of the Mediteranian Sea. & Yes, it has been a war zone for the past 30 yrs or so, but acording to CNN Beirut, the Capital of Lebanon, was voted the number 1 party city in 2009. & there is 1 thing that I don't understand, y r the twins swiming in a pool when they foundout that their father is the 1 who tortured their mom. They r still in the middle east, & in the movie they show 99% of the women covering their heads? & they show u a camel & very dirty, very small streets & houses. So did the twins go back 2 Canada just 2 swim in a pool or Jordan has swiming pools? I kno the answer 2 that. only about 30% of the women cover their heads, & there r many swiming pools in Jordan. There r camels in the zoo, not in the streets woundering around. Come on now, u can't just put what u like in the movie & fill in the parts that u want people to c. If u wanna make a movie about a very horrible story, it's fine. But at least show the real side of the middle east. Not camels & villages. Maybe it was a great movie if u didn't speak arabic & had 2 read the subs, & u have never been to Lebanon or Jordan 2 kno the difference between the 2 countries. But for me, I have been to Lebanon & Jordan several times & I kno both countries very well. & for the 1st 12 yrs of my life, I was living in the middle east. So my arabic is great, speaking, reading, & writing. so I can tell if ppl r speaking arabic corectly or not... & as far as the acting, there were not may emotions. Most of the movie was conversations not actions. so I can't tell if they were bad actors or they were doing exactly what they were supposed to do.. In the end, I didn't like the mvoie at all, & now I understand y so many people think that the middle east is just a big desert with camels & tents...

This was an awesome movie. When I realised it was French I was like oh no I am going to be bored but on the contrary the movie is captivating from the beginning. The game of the letters were breath taking. Exquisite! 10/10

Incendies , a mothers will requests that her daughter and son find their brother and father respectively. This leads the daughter (and later her brother) on a fascinating and absorbing detective trail to war torn Middle East. Family secrets are uncovered, cultural differences are laid bear and the horror of war are all on display here. The film is superbly acted, well paced and always compelling reaching a shocking denouement that will stay with you for a long time. This is film making at its best. 9/10

A film not for the faint hearted. A masterpiece of film making. It may seem a bit slow however, the pace is needed in order to absorb the gravity of the brutality of war between races and the odyssey of discovering one's personal history. Very moving, authentic, flawless. Thanks for links. 4.5 stars
