I just want to make a comment. I believe that when this movie was made, it made a statement that still stands today. We cannot be alone in this universe. Do not ever make the assumption that we, human beings, know everything about everything. We are still young, in the grand scheme of things.

Its called (2010: A Space Odyssey), not just 2010. Why are people so ignorant?

Everything was executed well and some-what realistically in the movie. But the plot is really showing its age, with the american vs. soviet rivalry being a semi center-piece to the plot. Even the alien entities somehow got involved and had something to say in the rivalry at the end. 3/5

This is a good Scifi and pretty good stand alone move too. Roy Scheider and Helen Mirren get the thumbs up for their respective performances, It has a comfortable pace and you can feel the tension. Love the set design! ****

Interesting movie. It had me literally on the edge of my seat. The ending I feel was a little corny, but overall a good film. At least good for a one time watch. 3/5

Awesome comment, you`re right on so many levels, A.C Clarke would be disappointed by how far mankind has stood still , the only true tech enhancements that have been developed is things with commercial value. its a shame that humanity stands for the wealth of one man, rather than the wealth of mankind.

Peter Hyams had some big shoes to fill when he took on the sequel to Kubricks 2001 but i think he did an admirable job,along with the story about the Monolith that has appeared orbiting Jupiter and the mission to discover what happened to the Discovery is an underlying cold war theme indicative of the time the movie was made.2010 along with it's predecessor 2001 is a very cerebral sci/fi movie so if you're looking for star Wars and explosions give this a miss but if like most sci/fi fans your intellect and imagination stretch a little further than that you really should give this a try,8/10.
