Not seen this for about 15 years or so, but a really enjoyable, gothic fairytale style werewolf movie. May not be to everyone's taste but i think it's pretty good :)

A classic 80s cover for a crappy flick.

A coming of age film - transition from girl to woman. As a girl she is asleep to her potential then as she walks the path of life she awakens and her toys fall away - there are warnings of dangers - her womanliness is represented by the lipstick. This is my interpretation - a lovely film.

I have searched and searched for this movie for many years. It was always a favorite of mine. Forget about the imagined symbolism and just enjoy the horror and fantasy in this dark fairytale movie. By the way, I need to move to a place like this.

Try it once again while keeping in mind that it is about being trapped between a rock and a hard place as a teen, neither kid nor (in this case) woman - when sexual urges don't make much sense (mostly because of nasty warnings, coming from the 'rents or - here - from Grams ;-) but they feel too good to get rid of them. Imagine a time beyond industrialism, with well-defined role models in place for men and women (don't have to make up your mind wether to study or what the hell else), "good old time"-style. I'm sorry, I didn't want to go on and on (chewing your ear off if this was actual talk ;-) but this movie is sooo much more than just a fairy tale (wrote my papers in college about it). If you're interested, check the tale of Red Riding Hood in the Internet. It is all about (sexual) awakening, girls being drawn to Alpha Men(or wolves)by genetic design while shitty girly magazines try to teach 'em being dominant, skinny and independent instead. Here I go again...my bad!! Really shouldn't be in the horror category... Beautiful movie! The editing and pacing is a bit haphazard but that really doesn't matter much. The movie, based on Angela Carter's awesome short story is REALLY more about Freudian themes, blossoming sexuality, loss of innocence, and more symbolism than you can think of! Yep, "Little Red Cap" is here along with the "Big Bad Wolf" but not like you imagine. I loved it when it first came out and still love it!!

I personally didn't like it. seems more like random dream sequences. kind of campy as in simple effects. there's nothing romantic or dignified about this transformation.definitly not one for younger kids.

This is my all time favorite movie, i saw this movie when i was a kid and i am still watching it.Love the soundtrack as well..A great bedtime movie.Simply the best!

I studied the Bloody Chamber at A-level and this was wonderful in terms of its imagery to write about. Excited to watch it :)

I didnt really like it not really a kids version either.too old for me.2/10.
