Good acting but terribly boring story

Yes the sound is off but this movie was very good. Helen Mirren is an excellent actress and I enjoyed watching this.

A good movie, however the performances are somewhat stilted at times. It is set in Hungry but the accents are oh so British for the most part and it does take away from the film and story itself. Nevertheless I still enjoyed it and Would love to read the book after seeing this.

Putlockers perfect sound and picture.A wonderful performance by Mirren as expected.Nice story about friendships ,maybe a little slow to some but it's worth the watch .I would re watch for her sassy attitude in this movie.

Very good movie with a great actress...this Helen Mirren was up to the standards once again. I think without her the movie would not have been the same less again catch my interest. The movie is pretty calm all along but the progression was keeping things interesting until the end. The only problem is that I thought this was taking place in the UK until later during the film I realised it was Hungary. I guess because the settings and dialogues was so British but it did not prevent me from enjoying the movie...4/5

Interesting moody period drama about the friendship of 2 women from different socioeconomic backgrounds and age. Set in 1950s communist Hungary, the film explores the complexities of friendship between 2 women, identity and the legacy of surviving World War 2 and Stalin. Wonderful script and direction. Great cast. Wonderful to have it acted in English. Of course this film does benefit from having the wonderful Helen Mirren in it who is always stunning. This is a melodrama that won't suit everyone however, I think it's worth a watch if only to appreciate the talent and craftmanship that went into making it. 4stars.

Not bad, but not that great either, screenplay adaptation of Magda Szabo's best selling, widely translated, novel. The betrayal by the grand passion of Emerence's life during crazy, warring times when alliances between Nazis and Communists (just as bad as the Nazis) turned on one another unpredictably,was handled in an all too brief flash-back which was confusing and failed to underline the relevance it had on her change of fate. Version 13 was perfect in sound sync. 5/10
