Watch Cast a Deadly Spell: In 1948 Los Angeles, everyone uses magic- everyone except hard-boiled private detective H. Phillip Lovecraft, who refuses for "personal reasons." This is a good bit of fun from the early 90's that mixes the unlikely pairing of a 40's detective flick with a Lovecraftian mystery,this combination,to my surprise,turned out to be pretty good.Fred Ward was predictably good as the Phillip Marlowe style,hard bitten detective on the trail of a missing magical book who finds that he's not alone in his search.The movie is a Lovecraftian tale wrapped in a detective story and lovers of both genres will have fun with this flick,7/10.

I have had this in my collection for a long time. It's not the best special effects like most movies of today but the story the talented actors and some decent effects make this classic one of those movies that will be popular with every new generation for millennia. Definitely one of those movies you will return from time to time to watch again.
