I give this movie a 2/5. I was eight years old when this came out and this is the first time I've actually watched it all the way through. When I was a kid I was only able to catch the iconic scenes before my mom would run me out of the room. I'm biased against this film because I've grown up exploring the woods my whole life, but to someone who finds the woods foreign and unknown I'm sure it's scarier. This is kind of like Paranormal Activity for the 90s kids. You have to be just the right age and just the right generation for it to be effective.

i liked it... didnt find it scary but it kept you wondering throughout the whole movie. I wish i would have watched it when it came out while i was young enough to get scared from watching it but still i do agree with most people about being so far one of the best first person low budget films and definitely helped bring about a new genre of horror/thriller films

I don't think there's any other movie out there that has such a wide gap in the spectrum of people liking it or not. You either think it was overrated and not scary or like me you remember this movie coming out, un-hyped and thinking it was definitely different then anything else coming out at the time and it was a definitely scary just a different kind of scary, not jump out of your seat scary but it set a certain underlying scare since you never knew was happening and they kinda never showed you and you generally liked it. I can't knock it cos of the memories attached and at the time it came out it was like most bootlegged movie all over the world or something and grossed a lot at the box office especially in relation to production cost which was huge for film and filmmakers alike to know you and your friends with just a good idea and camera could make something like this happen. It's unfair to to compare to movies now since this movie was kind of all about the timing. But it did start the genre of lost footage films, even if a couple of movies in the 70's did it before, this move made it go mainstream and it influenced and inspired a lot of the movies like it sense then.

i liked it, but i was very stoned when i watched this years ago and could imagine being in that situation, thats what i liked if i was there and that happened to me id be freaking

a true classic. one of the best of it's genre. 10/10 everyone should watch it at least once!

this film is good for what it is, but its not all that! the bit that made me feel un easy was the end where you see her friend facing the corner.. that was creepy. 7/10
