Okay this is a hard one.First I have to say that I am an admirer of MT.I needed to say that because the nature of the woman is purely subjective.Like her/hate.The complete absence of middle ground puts it into that rare category of film where the viewer has atrong feeling about the main character,and that bias will play a major part in any critique,and by default the film will be subject to a bias in turn.This film is a very very good insight into a wife,a woman,who just happened to be they most influential politician of modern european times,and internationally in many respects as well.Its well written,the parts are acted well by all and most importantly,it is accurate. The liberal interpretation of history by some film makers to promote national pride is avoided.What you get is what you see.This is well worth a look for all.If you are a student of history or just an interested amateur,it will give you an insight into the mindset of power and its trappings.oh! by the way its a film.Its also quite entertaining.

The political scene of the eighties was dominated by two particular politicians. The effect of their Neoliberal Ideology is still felt up to the present day. One of them was Margaret Thatcher. The other one was Ronald Reagan.

At the beginning of "The Iron Lady" we meet Baroness Margaret Thatcher (who at present is 86 years old and resides in Chester Square). She is taken care of by personal assistant June (Susan Brown) and her staff. The way the movie begins reminds us of one of Thatcher's controversial decisions when she was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom between 1979 and 1990. It was during her administration that the free distribution of milk in schools was stopped. The scene is fine criticism of her politics.

June tries to encourage Margaret Thatcher to remove all the clothes worn by her ex-husband Denis, who Margaret thinks is still alive. (In reality, Denis passed away in 2003).

The film shows us how Margaret Roberts encountered Denis Thatcher (Jim Broadbent). She wasn't elected in her first election, but succeeded in doing so in that of 1959. Despite every obstacle and with the help of Airey Neave (Nicholas Farrell) and Gordon Reece (Roger Allam), in 1975 she became the first woman to take the leadership of the Conservative Party. In 1979, she became Prime Minister.

From the beginning till the end, the movie is totally dominated by the exceptional interpretation of Meryl Streep as Margaret Thatcher. A budget of 13 million dollars was spent on "The Iron Lady". It has two Academy Award nominations : actress in a leading role (Streep) and make up.
